Ups and Downs of Marriage

Chapter 10

Everyone woke up and got ready for the ceremony that was in the afternoon followed by the wedding at night

Both Manan were ready and very excited for the ceremony as they didn't have much knowledge about it and were doing something new 

They had called a maulvi who would guide them throughout with all the rituals

As the baraat arrived, first Mahir had to share a cold drink-sherbet with the brides brother so he did that with Rish and Carl and Abeer too....

The presence of the brides and grooms fathers is very important in the main ceremony but as none of them had their fathers Nysa and Cadir performed the rituals... Cadir was the one doing the kanyadaan wherein a father promises his daughters hand to the groom, then they read the verses of the Quran containing the brides and grooms acceptance parts known as the ijab-e-qubool stating that both them accept the marriage happily, next the elders bestow their blessings on the newly married couple, Nancy received a number of gifts from many elders in terms of gold, garments or money as per the ritual; them they signed the marriage contract known as the nikaahnama

Manan were made to made to sit seperatly with Mahir and the boys and Nancy with the girls with a curtain between them, and mirrors positioned such that they could see each other through the the mirrors, first Mahir had go and give gifts to the brides sisters that is Muna, Naira and other cousins of Nancy...

Their heads were shelters by a dupatta under which they read the vows 

Their nikaah was over now and all of them went back home to get ready for the next one that was their Christian themed wedding 

All the arrangements of decor was done by Mahir himself as it was a surprise for Nancy 

The entire aisle was surrounded by jars containing fireflies but only some of them were glowing, Carl told Mahir about that and Mahir ensured him that all do them will glow at the right time

All got ready for the wedding

Nancy walked down the aisle with Cadir and Rish on either sides to find her Prince Charming standing right there waiting for her, to hold her hand, to make her his....

As Nancy reached there as always Mahir spread out his hand for her to hold and she happily have in 

It was no time for the vows and both Manan had written down their vows by themselves 

M: Nancy, I love you. Today is a very special day... Long ago, you were my prayer. This day is a dream come true and it seems God himself answered my prayers,I thank god for giving me the honour to spend my life with you,thank you for being my strength, happiness, light and hope. Today I promise I will care for you, love you, honour you and protect you. I lay down my life for you Nancy, my friend and my love....

N: Mahir, I love you and I know that you love me, this desires me to be your wife. For all my life I have prayed that God would lead me to his choice and am confident that this wish is gonna be true tonight. Through the pressures of the present and the uncertainties of the future I promise to be faithful to you. I will love, serve and care for you as long as we both are alive... I pledge to you my life as your wife

Priest: I now pronounce you Mahir Maclery and Nancy Maclery husband and wife; you may kiss the bride 

Nancy looked down shyly knowing that Mahir is not gonna control himself; and as of Mahir, he saw that amms, Cadir, Cilia mom, Rish, Preetika everyone was present so out of respect he just lifted her veil and pecked lightly on her cheek... Nancy looked at him in confusion and he pointed to their family sitting right there... 

Then they all headed for the first dance of the couple, they had their super romantic dance, and then everyone wished the couple, now it was time for toasts by all the people, so one by one all of them came up 

First it was Amms as she was the eldest of all,

Amms: Nancy, kanna, I am really happy for you, after your parents, when you were always so lost and lonely, I prayed a lot to ayaippa that he brings someone in your life who will bring back the same Nancy who smiled truly, and now Mahir has got me my Nanz back and I really missed my son, Nanzs dad a lot but Mahir he reminds me of him, thank you Mahir, my son, for coming into my Nanzs life and making it beautiful, and also to support her always and fulfill all her wishes in life, I wish you both a infinite long and happy married life

Next was Nysa

Ny: so, everyone present here, all of you have always been under the impression that Nysa and Mahir Maclery make the best mother-son jodi, well this has always been fake, yes, after all that I have done to spoil his life, I don't deserve the love and respect that I am getting from him as well as the person close to him whom I have hurt the most, that is Nancy, so my dear daughter and son, I am really heartily sorry for al that I have done, but pls both of you pls accept me as your mom and I promise like a real mom I will guide you both on the right path always and if you ppl go wrong anywhere in life, then I will bring you back home!

Everyone chuckled and Manan rushed to the stage and hugged her together showing that they have already accepted her as their family 

Rish:so, di and jiju, first of all congratulations, jiju you are great I mean who would happily agree to marry this drama queen who is so strict but you seriously, too daring ha rockstar

(On hearing this Mahir chuckled and Nanz signed Rish a slap with her hands)

Jokes aside, Mahir jiju and Nanz Di all the best for this new journey of your life, there will be many obstacles but I am sure you guys will fight everything together and not against each other

Carl: so my dear MaNan, man I can't even tease you how since you have open romance license now, anyways my dear Nancy, thank you for being in Mahir's life, I am his soul brother and I just hoped that an angel like you would come and reveal the real Mahir, and my baby sis I have always wanted to say this but I think today I have to say it I am sorry yaar for all that happened before, so guys have a happy married life behind the scenes, and have a super happy honeymoon too

So, same way Muna, Abeer and a few other guests also said some stuff and then was the turn of Mahir and Nancy, 

M: "There is never a time or place for true love. It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a single flashing, throbbing moment, like our first meet when we didnt even see each other but your fireflies they glowed for our love, after that we met, fought, and fell in love, Nancy, thank you for coming in my life like a storm, the mess once created was made alright by you, you got me a family that I had always craved for, now I have 3 mothers, a father, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, so thank you, you became my strength I the most weak phase of my life, when my family, my life, fab 5 left me all by myself, when aliya and Dhruv gave their insecurities more priority than me... Thanks for supporting me, you are the most beautiful thing ever happened to me, I have always loved stars as they gave me peace but your smile, it's even more serene than the stars themselves, I love you, my shining star, keep shining always..... I love you Nancy 

( Nancys eyes got moist and she signalled him an I love you too)

N: Mahir, the way we met was very unique, I don't how in the midst of eggs, ice cream, dirty drinks, rats, and dustbins, somehow we fell in love, you are the first in my life who could make me blush and accelerate my heart upto a good 1000mph speed, only with you, I feel happy, if you're with me all turns better, every time you kiss me I fell I will melt, and when you tell me that you love me, I feel like our souls got merged and the only thing I want to do I stay with you life long, if I ever again got seperated from you, I won't be able to live, life will suffocate me, all that I pray now is that we be together always... Manan hamesha, I love you 

(Mahir came up to the stage, whispered an I love you too and hugged her tight, everyone applauded hugely and soon after many more discussions and much more fun, all headed to their rooms for preparing for the next day, that is the early morning South Indians Kalyanam of our lovely Manan)
