Ups and Downs of Marriage

Chapter 11

Today was the day when finally everything was gong to come to an end... All the hectic wedding preparations would end..... This day is a shocking day for everyone as The Mahir Maclery has actually woken up at 4am in the morning to get married to his lady love... Since it's a South Indian wedding, it was scheduled early in the morning....

First, both had to have an auspicious bath to ward off all the evils from their life and then the bride would be adorned by her family members, this time it was done by Cilia mom and Amms as they both had all the knowledge about Tamilian dress ups... 

They then had all kinds of pujas and both were brought to the dias 

Nancy was made to tie a holy thread on her hand and Mahir had to worship different gods for a good commencement of his new life with a responsibility and the end of his bachelorhood

As all of them has assembled in the mandap, the next was the Kashi Yatra wherein the groom renounces all the worldly pleasures and sets off to Varanasi to lead a simple life and as he announces this the brides father has to persuade him to marry his daughter and that she would always be his companion...

On hearing about this ritual from the pandit, Mahir was shocked and he said 

M: what?? No I am not going to do all this, I want to marry her Cadir 

Cadir: we know that beta but it's just a ritual 

M: no ways I don't want to go to any Varanasi leaving my Nancy, I am not going 

Cadir: Mahir you just have to pretend beta and the come back and marry her 

M: no I don't want to waste time, I want to marry her that's it 

Ny: Mahir the brides father has to persuade you to stay here and here he is persuading you to go on a Kashi Yatra and you are not going 

C: exactly Mahir it's your last chance to run away from the wedding

M: oh just shut up and Cadir Cilia mom Amms pls skip this na I don't want to do it 

N: Mahir I want to perform al the rituals for our marriage, please!

M: fine just for you 

N: thank you 

M: what thank you I am going away and you are being happy and thanking me!! God what's wrong with you

Ab: oye husband wife stop fighting right from now

M: oye! Shut up Let's just do this fast guyz

Now, Mahir starts acting and moves out of the hall, he reaches to the gate of the temple and turns around to not find anyone behind him as Carl did not allow Cadir to go behind him to have some fun; Mahir realised this was Carls prank and so he did not go back instead he just hid somewhere from where he could see the gate

At the mandap, now almost 20 mins had passed and there was no sign of Mahir anywhere, this time Carl got worried of course they knew he won't leave Nancy but he didn't return which worried all, so Carl and Abeer rushed towards the outside and started calling for Mahir, after five minutes they couldn't find him and were going outside to look for him when he came out of the gate with a smirk on his face that meant "I am gonna kill you guys"; Carl gulped his saliva and went behind Nancy and took the rest of her saree pallu and covered himself with it and said 

C: sorry mr. Hulk, I have a lot of dreams to still accomplish, I can't die so soon pls save me Nanz!!!

N: mani relax he was just kidding yaar, it's ok, ab you want to marry me or not I have many other choices 

This angered him as he was really possessive about her and he went closer held her bare waist and pulled her to him and whispered

M: acha many choices, don't even think about that or I can show you right here and now how much I love you and claim you mine in front of all

(He said this eyeing her lips letting her know his actual meaning, and she knew he can do this actually so she just made a cute apologetic face to melt him down)

Amms: enough of fun ab let's continue

So, Cadir acted of requesting Mahir which Mahir couldn't bear as he respected Cadir a lot as he was much elder to him and he could not let his father like figure to bend down in front of him, so he just hugged Cadir and then all walked back to the mandap;

Next was the exchange of garlands, so as per rituals Nanz was supposed to be lifted by her Cadir but Carl lifted her high up so that Mahir could not reach her at all but how can one underestimate the chalta phirta Eiffel Tower.... He just jumped a little and put it round Nanz, as now it was Nanzs chance, Carl and Abeer together lifted Mahir and as he is already tall and they lifted him Nanz could not do it at all and was just jumping and making cute,sad and angry pouts on not being able to reach him and he was just admiring her failing attempts, he was staring at her face with his intense gaze and as Nanz noticed that look in his eyes she too got lost in it and stopped trying, after a good long eye lock lasting for 10 mins with everyone's admiring gaze, Carl coughed loudly and said

C: Bhai my shoulder bones will break yaar, fast !!

They broke of their world and Mahir bent down making the work very easy for Nancy and she smiled widely and put the garland round his neck

Next Mahir put the mangalsutra onto her neck again and filled her forehead partition  with sindoor 

Next was the oonchal or the swing and singing, both were made to sit on a beautiful swing decorated by Nancy and the girls all by themselves, they rocked back and forth on the swing while all the elder ladies including Nysa Cilia mom and Amms sang the songs for their bringer future, next was the kanyadaan ceremony in which Nancy had to sit on her fathers lap and he would give her away to Mahir for life so Cadir took Nancy in his lap and then the ceremony was completed, next they took the Saat pheras saying the sacred vows of togetherness... With this all 4 weddings are completed and Nancy was taking to Maclery mansion for her Griha Pravesh....
