Selena's POV
"What is it?" I asked. "You two can't tell anyone. Not anyone at all," she said. I nodded without any consideration.
"So here's the thing. Our parents aren't actually on vacation. When I was five and Lauren was six, they left us. We haven't heard anything from them since, and we're not planning on that. Lauren and I had to take up jobs to basically survive, and we lived on the streets and had to steal some things like our car. When I was twelve and Lauren was thirteen, a man named Bryce found us, and he gave us an apartment and other basic things, but on the condition that we work for him," Camila said.
As I processed everything, I nodded. "Don't tell them what we do, Camz," Lauren groaned. "You can tell us, it's okay," I told them. "No, we can't," Lauren snapped.
Camila's eyes filled with tears. "Lauren, I think we could tell them. I trust them," Camila said. "You can trust us," Demi assured the girls.
David then barged into my room. "Selena, it's time for bed. Whoa, what are you doing with all that alcohol? And why is your friend about to cry?" David demanded.
"No reason. Go away," I said as I threw a pillow at him. "Selena!" David yelled. I ran up to the door and looked at David straight in the eyes. "Please, go away," I told him. "Okay, but I'll be back tomorrow," he said and left.
I closed the door and sat back down with the girls. Lauren had fallen asleep at this point from all of the alcohol she had. Demi gave me a worried look.
"You can trust us, Camila," Demi assured her. Camila looked really worried, though.
Suddenly, a strange ring came from Lauren's pocket. Camila took out an old flip phone from that pocket and answered it.gave the caller my address. She then flipped the phone shut.
"Gotta go," Camila sighed. "What? You can't go," I told her. "Work awaits," she rolled her eyes. "So now this Bryce guy knows where I live?" I asked. "Oh, I'm sorry," Camila said as she lowered her head. "It's okay," I told her as I hugged her.
Minutes later, Camila and Lauren had to leave. I told David that Bryce was their dad, and that they had a family emergency. I felt really bad because Camila had to work, but I was so curious as to why everything had happened and to what she did for work.
The moment the girls left, Demi and I went up to my room. Demi went into the closet and pulled out the video camera. "What do we do with this? I know that neither of us want to show this to Miley, Ashley, and Vanessa," Demi said as she plopped onto my bed with me.
"Let's not show them," I said. "But won't they ask?" Demi asked. I grabbed the video camera from her and deleted the video. "The video never existed. The battery died and we didn't know until tomorrow," I declared.
Camila's POV
"Really, Bryce? I thought we were off duty tonight," I complained as we left Selena's house. "Shut up. A client called and they wanted someone young and pretty. I was calling for Lauren, but since she can't I'll just have to settle for you. Now get in the car," he growled.
I got into the backseat with Lauren lying on top of me. He then sped away from Selena's house. I stroked Lauren's hair as tears rolled down my cheeks. I was so angry about what was happening, and crying was all that I could do.
Within minutes, we were in front of my little home. "Go drop off Lauren. You have five minutes," Bryce dictated. He had always hated me, and he only liked Lauren for her eyes, hair, and smile.
Even though I could barely lift Lauren's sleeping body, I managed to get her in the house and rest her nicely on the couch and got back to the car with seconds to spare.
"That's what you're wearing?" Bryce asked in disgust as I entered the car again. "I didn't have enough time to change," I mumbled. "Whatever. We have to go," Bryce sighed as he hurried off to the client's house.
Bryce stared at me through the mirror the entire drive. His yellow eyes made me feel as though he was penetrating my soul. He had a blonde buzz cut, and barely any stubble on his tan face.
Moments later, we were in front of this client's house. I had never been there before, so I hoped for the best. So many things could go wrong. The person could decide not to pay me, they could try to do some things that honestly I didn't even want to think about.
As I got out of the car, Bryce called, "I'll be back in three hours. If you're not done by then, you're finding your own way home." He then drove away quickly. I sighed as I headed up to the door.
Nervously, I knocked on the door. A few seconds later, I could hear someone walking towards the door from inside. "They're here," the person called. Their voice sounded familiar. Perhaps a bit too familiar for my liking.
The door then opened, revealing the person I least expected to see.
Demi's POV
"So what do you want to do now?" I asked Selena. "I don't know, what about you?" Selena asked me. "Let's talk about boys," I suggested. "and girls," I added after a moment.
"You want to talk about your date with Niall don't you," Selena winked at me. "You know me so well!" I exclaimed.
We talked about Niall for a little while. I fantasized about where he could take me, how the day would go, and Selena gave me advice on what to wear.
After a bit, we transitioned over to Selena and Camila. Selena told me how she started liking her, and how she wanted to tell Camila, but was too scared.
"How about on Monday, depending on how her date goes with Harry, just come out and say it," I suggested. "Yeah, I guess I could do that," Selena shrugged.
"Girls, it's time for bed. Don't make me tell mom and dad," David called from outside the room. With that, Selena and I got ready for bed and headed off to sleep.
