Chapter 31

1993 Words
Selena's POV "How was your spring break?" I asked Camila and Lauren, although I was really just staring into Camila's adorable brown eyes. "Good, good, and yours?" Camila asked. "It was alright," I reply. Before any sort of awkward silence could set in, Demi tapped my shoulder. "Hey, Selena, remember when we went to the video store at the beginning of the break and who we met?" Demi asked. "Yeah," I replied slowly. She then pointed over to Maya and another girl walking in the hallway. "Who are they?" Camila asked. "Long story, I'll tell you in class," I replied. She nodded. Ashley and Vanessa then came up to us, so we began talking to them about their break until it was time for class. Vanessa wasn't in our class for chemistry, so Camila and I went to class alone and sat down in our spots next to each other. I felt nervous because I still wasn't exactly sure quite exactly what terms we were on with each other. After a moment of silence, Camila turned to me. "Selena, I have no idea how I feel about you, but I don't want this to affect our friendship. It'll take me a bit of time to figure out my feelings for you, so I'll be spending time with you of course, but also a lot of Harry, and I don't want you to be hurt by that. No matter what, though, you're still one of my best friends," she told me. "If what you want is to stay friends, I would be glad to do so," I said with a smile, causing her to give me her gorgeous smile. Unfortunately, our conversation was interrupted by the bell ringing and the teacher walking in. Before we started class, the teacher introduced us to two new students. The first was a boy named Nick, and the second was Maya's friend, and her name happened to be Alessia. I took a mental note of Alessia, yet didn't think much of this girl. Quickly enough, chemistry ended and it was time for history. I went with Camila to our next class while we talked about random things when Harry walked up to us. "So about that date we talked about, does today after school work?" Harry asked. Camila nodded. "Alright, see you then," he winked. She smiled and waved as he walked away. Camila turned to me once he left. "Anyways, hi," she said, causing me to smile, because I knew she was trying to make me feel better. She was a great person, which made me start to like her even more. Once again, we were interrupted. This time, it was by Alessia. "Hi, the teacher told me that the class is working on projects and that I have to pick a group, may I be with you?" she asked timidly. "Of course," Camila said with a smile. "Go sit with your groups everyone an get working," the teacher said as the bell rang, so Dinah and Alessia came to sit with Camila and I. This was going to be a long class. Ally's POV I was scared to go to school because I would see Normani, Dinah, Troy, and Lauren. After I had woken up on Sunday morning, I left Normani's house before she and Dinah woke up and wrote a little note that said, "Sorry about last night and I'll be at the hospital all day so don't worry about me." When I got to school, I was still scared of seeing them. So, I came a little later than usual on purpose and headed straight to class. Thankfully, none of them were in my class. "Awn, look at the little dork sitting all by herself," Ashley mocked me as she walked in, since of course she of all people had to be in every single one of my classes. "Shut up, b***h," I muttered loud enough for her to hear as I got some books out of my bag. "Excuse me?" Ashley demanded as she came to hover over me, "Did you just call me a b***h?" The look in her eye was frightening, and I didn't feel like starting anything with her. I already had enough going on. "No," I mumbled. "That's what I thought," she replied. She took a can of Dr. Pepper from her bag and opened it. She then poured it all over my books. "Oops," she told me sarcastically, then walked away. Furious, I stormed right after her and pulled her by the hair. "Ow!" Ashley shrieked. She turned to face me and the moment she did, I hit her hard across the face. "Ms. Hernandez! To the principal's office! Now!" yelled the teacher, clearly only seeing me hit Ashley and not the rest of it. I stormed off to see the principal without looking back, although I could tell that Ashley was content. Once I got there, I was told by the secretary that the principal was in meetings all day, so he couldn't do anything, however she decided to give me detention only for that day after school, which honestly wasn't so bad. By the time I was done in the office, it was already lunch. There had been a lot of people in the office besides me, so that's why it had taken so long. Since I didn't want to be alone during lunch, I decided that maybe I should go sit with my friends and Troy. I knew it could cause problems, but I figured that I should at least see them. Dinah spotted me as soon as I left the office. "Ally!" she called as she ran up to me with Normani close behind. "Where have you been? What happened?" Dinah questioned. "I slapped Ashley and ended up getting a detention after school," I mumbled, causing Normani's jaw to drop. "Pero, you're not supposed to do that! She can torment all of us with what you did! Apparently you're the reason we all get bullied!" Dinah protested. "I don't know what I did to her, though, I don't understand why she hates me so much," I said with a soft voice while looking down at the floor. "Weren't you friends with her?" Normani asked. "Yeah, until like, the third grade," I replied with the same spot fixated in my vision. "Well what happened? Why did you stop being friends?" Dinah asked. "I don't remember, I lied. I knew exactly what had happened, and that wasn't a reason to hate me. "Let's just go to the cafeteria," I stated after a moment. "Yeah sure, Troy's been looking for you all day," Normani said. I nodded slowly, and thankfully my friends didn't ask me about what had happened the other day. On our way to the cafeteria, I saw Lauren, who was also walking to the cafeteria. Obviously Normani and Dinah didn't know how I felt about her, but they did know that I wanted to help her and be a good friend to her, and they did, too. "Hey Lauren!" Normani called, causing her to turn around and for butterflies to form in my stomach. Her eyes were stunning as they always were. "What's up?" Dinah asked as Lauren walked towards us and started walking next to me. My heart began to race. She shrugged in response. "How about you sit with us today?" Normani proposed. I looked at Lauren, hoping she'd say yes. "I don't know," Lauren replied. "Come on, just for today? If you're worried about your friends seeing you, I overheard them saying they'd be outside," Dinah said. "Alright," I replied. A huge grin grew to my lips. "Yay!" I cheered, causing my friends to laugh and Lauren to smile such a beautiful smile. If only she saw how beautiful she was. Camila's POV Gratefully, lunch came around quickly. Alessia was a nice girl, and Selena and I had offered for her to come sit with us at lunch, and she agreed. When lunch came, she came outside with the two of us, and Demi, Miley, Ashley, and Vanessa joined us quickly. Miley and Demi weren't talking to each other. I felt kind of bad about kind of causing that, yet I had many other things to deal with besides this problem concerning my friends. I had to solve my own problems first. "Justin, Maya, and my other friend Julie are on their way to meet us," Alessia said, pulling me out of my thoughts. We all nodded, and I could tell that Selena wasn't exactly thrilled by this. I leaned into Selena and whispered, "What happened that you don't like these people?" "Alessia's fine, and I think so is Julie, but I have a history with Justin, and I think Maya hates me," she replied in the same tone. "She probably doesn't. Who would hate you?" I asked innocently, causing her to smile a little. The two of us went back into the group conversation. "Did you see those new kids, Kevin, Joe, and Nick?" Demi asked. "Oh yeah, they're brothers," Vanessa said. "Kevin's really nice, I haven't talked to the rest, though," Ashley said. "I think I like Joe," Demi confessed as she began to blush. "Demi!" Selena and I exclaimed at the same time in a playful tone. "Wow, you'd think that you two are sisters, rather than you and Lauren," Vanessa commented. "Speaking of which, where is Lauren?" Ashley asked. "I have no idea," I shrugged. "She was here all morning," Miley commented. "Maybe we should look for her," Selena suggested. Before anyone could say anymore, three people walked up to us. They were evidently Justin, Maya, and Julie. It was easy to tell who Justin was since he was the only guy, yet I didn't know who was Maya and who was Julie. Thankfully, they introduced themselves, so I tried to remember their names. "Random question," Miley started as the three of them sat down, "Why do you think the principal's been admitting so many new students?" "What do you mean?" Selena asked. "Well we used to never have new students, and just two weeks ago Camila and Lauren came, and today we got six new students," Miley said. "Five," Julie corrected, "I'm a sophomore and I was here for all of freshman year, too." "Okay, five new students. Anyways, that's still a lot of people, why do you think this is happening?" Miley questioned. "It's probably nothing," Selena said, "and besides, it's cool to have new people." Selena then wrapped her arms around me, so I put my head in the crook of her neck and smiled. Honestly, I still had no idea whether I liked Selena or Harry or neither, yet I didn't want to stress about it. When you have people like Bryce and Oscar in your life, love isn't your main concern. Lauren was also a big concern to me. Lauren had always been like a role model to me, but now I knew that she wasn't as strong as she had led me to believe, and I wanted to help her, just like all of the countless times she had helped me over the years. I really hoped that we could move in with our parents and Sofia. Okay, maybe not with our dad specifically, but I hoped that everything with him would soon be resolved. Quickly before I got lost in my thoughts, I decided to really pay attention to every thing going on around me. Alessia was whispering something to Maya and Julie, Maya was holding hands with Justin, Selena was very uncomfortable, Miley was lost in her thoughts, and Demi, Vanessa, and Ashley seemed to all be looking for at least one person, yet there was still a general conversation around me. Unfortunately, lunch had to come to a close, and we all had to head to class. We had math, and I wasn't particularly thrilled to see Oscar.
