Chapter 1: Return to the Homeland
The gentle spring breeze lifted the girl's dark hair, revealing her stunning face. Her delicate eyebrows, thick and curled lashes, and a pair of cold, black eyes were framed by her high nose and slightly pursed, rosy lips. Under the spring sunlight, her exquisite features seemed even more radiant.
"Let's go," Mu Yan Liuyue said coldly.
Mu Yan Liuyue was a royal princess, the only heir to the throne with no siblings (because her mother was weak and only gave birth to Liuyue). To prepare her to shoulder the nation's responsibilities, her father had sent her abroad for education and upbringing from a young age.
Having been deprived of familial affection for a long time, she became cold towards those who obeyed her commands without question. Many called her a "genius girl," as there was almost nothing she couldn't do, but only she knew the sacrifices and efforts behind her achievements.
To become stronger, she had established the "Fog Moon Palace," an organization that provided her with information and financial support.
"Yes, Your Highness," Lin said, pulling Liuyue's suitcase as they left the villa.
Lin, a personal guard of the royal family, was an orphan adopted by Liuyue's father. She grew up alongside Liuyue and was one of the few people Liuyue trusted. Therefore, Liuyue entrusted Lin with managing the Fog Moon Palace.
"Yu, I'll leave this place to you," Liuyue said, turning to Yu.
The man called Yu smiled slightly and said, "Rest assured, Your Highness."
Yu, another orphan whom Liuyue's father had brought back from somewhere, was like an older brother to Lin and Liuyue and was also one of the few people Liuyue trusted.
Liuyue nodded, got into her car—a limited edition sports car called "Blue Soul." Lin drove them straight to the airport.
Fifteen minutes earlier—
"What? You want me to return home to study?!" Mu Yan Liuyue asked coldly. Haven't I studied enough already?
Lin replied respectfully, "Yes, Your Highness, His Majesty insists you return home."
Ha! Study? It's not that simple, is it?
"Is Father planning to find me a husband again?" Liuyue raised an eyebrow.
"Your Highness is indeed smart!" Lin smiled.
Why is Father so worried about this? Is he afraid I won't get married?! Liuyue thought to herself. Though she was extremely displeased, she still packed her things and headed to the airport.
Sitting in the back seat of the "Blue Soul," Liuyue wore a casual outfit—a shirt paired with jeans—and had her long hair tied in a ponytail. She closed her eyes and listened to music.
Soon, they arrived at the airport.
"Miss, please wear this," Lin handed Liuyue a black mask.
Liuyue asked, puzzled, "Why do I need this?"
Lin glanced around. People's eyes were glued to Liuyue's face. Although she was proud of Liuyue's beauty, it was better to keep a low profile in public to avoid unnecessary trouble. She remembered the last time Liuyue was at the airport, people mistook her for a celebrity, and their "enthusiasm" was overwhelming.
Liuyue noticed the stares and calmly took the mask, putting it on, revealing only her sharp, bright eyes, like black gems.
This lessened the attention somewhat.
Lin went to get the tickets and handle the visa while Liuyue leaned against a wall, playing with her phone.
"Whoosh—" The plane took off.
A few hours later—
The plane landed slowly. Mu Yan Liuyue disembarked, dragging her suitcase with Lin following closely behind.
Even with the mask, her extraordinary presence attracted many admiring glances.
"Miss, the 'Blue Soul' will take a few more days to arrive by air freight. The car sent by the family is waiting outside," Lin checked her phone and reported.
"Okay," Liuyue responded calmly and walked towards the airport exit, stopping in front of a low-key black business car.
"Miss, welcome home," the driver said warmly, bringing a slight warmth to Liuyue's heart.
She nodded and got into the car with Lin.
The driver put the luggage in the trunk, returned to the driver's seat, and started the car, his hands trembling slightly with excitement.
Due to the time difference, it was already 9 PM when they arrived from Country Y. The roads were almost empty, making the journey smooth.
Watching the scenery pass by, Liuyue untied her hair, letting the night wind blow through her locks.
"Screech—" The car stopped in front of a magnificent castle.
"Welcome home, Your Highness!" The maids greeted in unison.
"Ah! My dear daughter is finally back!" Liuyue's mother exclaimed, rushing out to hug her tightly.
Liuyue remained expressionless, letting her mother hug her. "Where is Father?" she asked.
Hopefully, he wasn't home. If he was, she wouldn't mind having a serious "chat" with him.
"Oh, he's handling your school admission," her mother said, slightly miffed that her daughter wasn't more concerned about her.
Liuyue's eyes turned cold. "Oh, really?" she said, laughing inwardly. How dare he avoid me by pretending to handle school matters?
"Darling, you haven't had dinner yet, have you? I'll cook something for you!" Without waiting for Liuyue's response, her mother ran excitedly to the kitchen.
Liuyue found her room based on her memory and opened the door. "Lin, gather all the information about the academy for me!" she ordered, looking around the room that hadn't changed much in over ten years.
"Yes, Your Highness!" Lin replied, turning to leave.
Schooling, huh? Very well! Liuyue sneered inwardly.
At that moment, her father shivered, thinking, Good thing I left quickly, or I'd be in trouble if she caught me!
The headmaster of the Royal Academy also felt a sense of foreboding, wondering why he had a bad feeling about this.
