She curved her lips into a smile and tried to appear amenable. Phoenix shook her head. Tina’s words struck at the heart of her self image and she squirmed beneath the comparison. This damn camp had broken her. Lexi, Kirwan and the refugees had exerted their influence over her carefully crafted discipline and wrecked everything. Phoenix ground her teeth so hard in her jaw it caused her temples to ache. She shook her head again and her fingers gripped the lunge rope.
