Mint wasn’t sure how to handle the fact that the one secret he had spent pretty much all of his life trying to hide had finally been revealed, and now he was sure that Kai wouldn’t want anything to do with him, even though he had tried his hardest not to show the fact that he was a demon in the living room. Maybe he was doing well, but it hadn't even with the walk, which he had hoped would help him feel better. He sighed as he and Church walked into the apartment, and his best friend was still talking about Nether.
But what the two hadn’t expected to see was the Vause twins bound and gagged in the middle of the living room, sitting on two dining chairs, with the knights surrounding them, all arguing. Cedar participated in this argument, even though he had his usual glass of wine to accompany him.
Yua was the first one to spot them. After all, he had been zoning out of the argument and instead watching the twins, and when he had seen the two of them try to move to gain Mint and Church’s attention, it had also caught Yua’s attention. The man gave them what Mint assumed was a smile, and he tried to gain the other knight's attention, but when that didn’t work, he looked at them and shrugged.
Church spotted Nether, and of course, the man was in his demon form, sitting cross-legged in the air, and he rushed over to him. Seeing Church is what caused the argument to simmer down finally. Nether looked down at the human as he tried to climb the couch to get into his lap.
Mint sighed. “Church, personal space. Come on. We’ve had this conversation.”
Nether sighed and waved his hand. “It’s fine. Leave it, Mint.”
Mint stared at the knights and his best friend sitting in a demon’s lap. Mint wasn’t sure how he wasn’t falling through, but he assumed Nether must have been doing something, “Can someone tell me why you have the Vause twins bound and gagged in the living room?”
“I say we leave them, turn around and walk away like we saw nothing,” Church offered.
The two protested well they tried to do as much as they could while being bound and gagged, and Mint waved his hand as he stared at the man. “No, don’t be ridiculous.” He turned to look at Mercy and Xavier. “We won’t leave you here, don’t worry.”
“You know them?” Nether asked, tilting his head. Church had spun around when Nether had spoken, and he had seen the gesture and copied it, tilting his head with a bright grin.
Mint sighed. There had to be something wrong with Church, down on a molecular level, because as much as he loved his best friend, indeed he wasn’t normal.
“Okay. So, what the f**k is going on?”
Like children, all the knights began talking over one another, yelling and cursing. Mint didn’t know how to tell them he couldn't hear them and that they were acting like children, and when he tried to tell them to be quiet, no one could hear him from how loud they were being, so he did the one thing he thought would be reasonable, which was to scream.
Of course, no one had expected him to scream, so it caught everyone off guard, and they all stared at him in shock. “I cannot understand what you are all saying, so shut up. Cedar, will you please explain why the twins are tied up.”
“We portalled into the hallway instead of inside. They saw us. We panicked. We took them,” Cedar replied gently, sighing as he shook his head. “They panicked. I’m sorry.”
Mint scowled at all of them and ran a hand through his hair. “I have way too much on my plate to worry about what you fools are doing. I am taking Church, and we are leaving.”
Mint walked over to Nether and pulled on Church’s legs until the man dropped. After grabbing his hand, he left him out of the apartment, and as they slammed the door, Mint cursed and sighed. “s**t. The Vause twins.”
“Can we leave them?”
“No.”
He stormed back into the apartment, glaring. “And I’m taking the Vause twins.”
They all started yelling again, something about how they had seen them. They had seen neither in his human form, and deather looking like a twink, nether said that, and of course, this was going to brew another argument, and Mint did not have time for this, so he glared at every single one of them.
“No. Yua, can you please untie them.”
Yua nodded, walked over and untied the Vause twins without hesitance. Mint smiled at the man in thanks, and the Vause twins left, but not before Xavier turned around and waved at Cedar. “See you on Monday.”
“Yes, see you then.” Mint frowned but decided not to question anything. He just wanted to go somewhere and sleep. He was exhausted. “Oh,” came Cedar’s voice. “Did I not mention Xavier is the human working at my store.”
The response wasn’t heard, but Mint was sure another argument would be coming.
