A white blinding white streak of pain shot from my butt and I just knew I had fallen out of the tree. Great, I thought. All my years of hiding and planning was ruined just because I walked on a different path today.
I huffed out a breath and tried to stand up when I heard a growl.
“Who. Are. You.” I flinched and looked up to meet two pairs of glaring eyes. The two wolves stared down at me and I cringed. Dam-
“Speak.” The man on the right bellowed at me. Oh god what do I say? It’s not like he could know who I was? But it seemed if I didn’t say anything they would chop my head off-
I opened my mouth ready to bark out a snarky response when the one on the left sniffed the air around me.
“ROGUE.”
That was the last thing I heard before the world went black.
****
The first thought that went through my head was ‘Damn my head hurts.’ The second thing I did was open my eyes, only to shut them closed again. Man was it bright. And where the hell was I?
This time I gently opened my eyes and tried not to flinch away from the brightness.
I looked around the room I was in and it seemed as if I was in a hospital. Interesting. I was about to hop off the hospital bed I was on when voices from the other side of the door made me freeze. Damn. Just as I thought I was gonna escape.
The door slammed open and a man stormed into the room, seeming to be completely unaware of my presence. At least that’s what I thought until the man suddenly turned to face me.
“Finally the rogue is awake.” He smiled in a really weird way and I cringed backwards.
“Oh don’t worry I won’t hurt you. The alpha does want to see you though. Who knows what he’ll do when he realizes there was a rogue on his lands.” And there it was, the threat.
I let out a sigh. Well. I’ve lived a long enough life anyway. No need to continue if I don’t have a purpose either.
“Okay. So when does he want to see me?” I met the man’s gaze full on. If I’m going down, I’m going down standing as strong as I could.
The man started grinning. “Right now.”
Then he got up, walking out the door. Okay. So here we go.
****
I followed the man out the hospital doors and down a bunch of hallways. It seemed as if this pack was really large. My pack had separate wings for each necessity and it seemed as if this pack was all just connected.
I glanced around the halls we walked down and was wondering how much longer we had to go when the man walked into a room.
I cautiously stepped in and took in the sight before me.
The man I had followed was bowing before another man. This man emitted a strong aura and screamed power to me. Well. Guess this is the alpha. Fun.
I watched with a c****d head, as the man exchanged a few words with the alpha before he walked out, leaving me with the alpha.
The alpha stared at me and I stared at him. He looked nothing like my old alpha. He seemed dangerous and likely to go on a killing spree. I shuddered inwardly. God Rinsley what did you get yourself into-
“Sit.” Anddddd the alpha speaks his first word. I took a step to the chair in front of his desk but didn’t sit. Wrong move.
“SIT.”
I collapsed into the chair.
“What is your name.” He folded his hands, leaning forward to look at me.
“Rinsley.”
“You are a werewolf. What pack.”
None of his questions seemed to actually sound like questions and it made me uncomfortable. I mean sure he’s alpha but like seriously?
“I’m from the Mystic Peak Pack.”
“Mystic Peak, Mystic Peak….” He murmured this to himself. “Wait. There’s no Mystic Peak Pack. At least it hasn’t existed for the last four years.” The alpha raised an eyebrow at me.
“My pack was attacked four years ago. I was the only survivor or at least I think I am.” I met his stare full on and only broke it to reveal the Mystic Peak symbol tattooed on my wrist.
I looked back at the alpha and watched him nod. Okay. I did my part. It’s his turn.
“What’s your name?”
The alpha looked taken aback as if he was surprised I was asking him a question. I thought he was about to scream at me before he started laughing.
“You? Don’t know who I am?” He continued laughing and I raised an eyebrow at him. Was this guy serious? I mean sure I’ve been living in the woods for four years but I couldn’t have missed out on that much right?
The alpha stopped laughing and said, “My name’s Ambrose. Alpha Ambrose that is to you.”
I nodded to show some respect to him so I wouldn’t die that fast.
“My pack is the Night Walker Pack. My warriors found you when you fell out of a tree in the woods. Interesting way to get attention if you ask me.”
I cringed and cursed myself. Stupid. Stupid.
Alpha Ambrose played with his beard while contemplating me. The alpha was buff. His jet black hair matched his dark eyes and his beard made him seem old.
“I was considering banishing you or even throwing you in the dungeons but you being the last member of the Mystic Peak Pack makes it even better.”
He murmured some more words to himself and then said, “You know what? I’ll let my sons decide your fate.”
He stood up and looked down at me. His sons? Oh god. The alpha’s sons were always the worst.
Back in my pack the alpha’s sons always bullied me relentlessly no matter what. It got even worse after I came out as homosexual. Damn. As if being the beta’s son wasn’t powerful enough. If the alpha’s sons were anything like his warriors I would be doomed.
I looked up to see the alpha’s eyes glazed over, meaning he was mindlinking someone. Oh god. I could feel myself shaking.
I looked down at my hands. My fingers were trembling. I suddenly felt like crying. This shaking hasn’t happened in three years. Why was it happening right now. I buried my hands into my lap and tried not to let my fear surround me.
Breathe Rin. You don’t even know what they’re gonna do to you. I took in several deep breaths and it seemed to work until loud footsteps sounded through the hallways and the door burst open.
My lungs seemed to collapse in on themselves and the shaking got even more intense. The alpha’s sons were so so tall and muscular. There was no way I was going to be alive.
I let out a whimper and felt myself slide out of the chair onto the floor.
I’m gonna die today.
