CHARMAINE'S POV Luck has never been a word I'd acquaint myself with. It's safe to say that I'm the unluckiest person in the world - okay maybe not the unluckiest but I'm pretty sure I'm on top of the list. My mom died minutes after I was born and my dad died a few months after. I've been living with my evil aunt ever since and she has made it here personal duty to make my life a living hell. She never fails to remind me each opportunity she gets how much of a curse and a burden I am to them. "Charmaine!!!!" s**t this can't be good. "Yes aunty" "I've told you never to call me that, I do not want to have any ties with you that will link I and my children to the curse that you carry around just by merely existing" I find it hard to believe that this is actually my mom's immediate junior sister whom she begged on her death bed to take care of me as her own, I guess she only agreed to take me in because that was my mother's death wish. I never really had any emotions when talking about my parents. I guess it's cuz I never really knew them but I'm sure that my life would have been different if they were still alive. There are times when I actually believe I'm a curse and my aunt constant reminding me of that only helps me question myself more. Cuz there's no way this many bad things can happen to one person and something keeps telling me there's more in store for me. "Charmaine, Charmaine are you even listening to me?" Shit, I zoned out and I knew what was coming. I placed my hands in front of my face to brace myself for the impact of my aunt's hand but it seemed she anticipated that because instead of giving me a slap in my face, she pushed me really roughly, and since I wasn't expecting it, I fell really hard on the floor. I'm pretty sure I heard something pop but I'll have to check that later cuz right now, her first son and daughter - Brody and Linda are rushing towards me to finish off what their mom started. "What's going on here?" I sighed in relief as my uncle questioned his family. Their last daughter- Anna, who was my age came out from behind him and rushed to help me get up. They're the only actual family I have. They're the only ones that make me feel wanted, loved, and everything a child should feel from family. "Honey, I was talking to this good for nothing-" "You will not call her that " my uncle said "Isn't that what she is? A good for nothing brat, a curse to her entire family" "Anna, please take Char to her room" As soon as we were out the door and headed in the direction of the stairs, I heard my uncle's voice again but I was too tired to try and listen in and make out what they were saying. The only thing I knew for sure is that this would never end well- for me,that is.
