Chapter 8 “Surprise!” Mom said with a big smile on her face. Bret and Craig were right behind her. There was an awkward moment, especially with Brian and me. “W-welcome back mom.” I said and gave her a hug. “Bret.” I gave him a hug too. “Is there any problem honey?” Mom ask. I think she notice that there is something going on in here. “I-I’m fine, I’m just… shock that you guys are here. Why didn’t you tell us?” I ask to change that topic. “Well, we wanted to surprise you and I guess we did a very good job.” She said and kisses Bret. “How’s everything here?” Bret asks, looking at me, Brian and Craig. I inhaled. “Fine… I guess.” Again there is an awkward silence. Craig cleared a throat. “So you are back so I guess we should have a little celebration.” He said that made my mom jumpy. We ordered pizza and some drinks. Mom told us how beautiful Dubai was and how they enjoyed their honeymoon. They gave us some of the things they bought for us along with their trip. I got a bag, two pairs of new shoes, one was a pair of high heels. I also got a new dress and a casual top. Brian and Craig have their own too, I don’t really know what’s the real relationship of Craig with the Hart’s, but they seem really close. I can’t take all the awkward moment with Brian. "Umm, I’m sorry guys but I’m really tired and I still have school tomorrow, so I have to say goodnight.” “Oh, I’m sorry honey I forgot about school.” Mom kissed me in the forehead. “I love you, and good night.” “Love you too.” I said and I waved at Bret. I went upstairs and drop myself in my bed. Tears came flowing to my cheeks without effort. I don’t know why these tears are still here. I hate myself for being so emotional. Why does his words affect me so much? He’s words keeps on ringing in my head when I pass out. *BRIAN HART* Santana went upstairs. I fell so… actually I don’t know what to feel anymore. But one thing is for sure, when I saw tears on her pretty face, it seems like I’m a very bad person for making her cry. I didn’t mean to hurt her or to say those words to her. I feel like a total jerk. “Are you okay?” Dad asks when he notice that I’m spacing out. “huh? Erm… yeah why would I not be okay?” “I don’t know, you look like you’re thinking about something else.” “Oh, it’s about school… stuff.” I lied. He patted my back. “Well, I’m going to bed, I still have some major jet lag.” “Yeah, sure.” Dad and Kris went to sleep fast, now only Craig and I are still up. “What did you do to her?” Craig said. “Huh?” I said raising my eyebrow. “To Santana? Please don’t act innocent, I saw her crying.” “W-we…. Just had a fight.” I said. “About her having a boyfriend?” Craig said that made me look at him. “N-no.” “Are you perhaps… jealous?” he said. I raise my eyebrow and hissed at his question. “What kind of stupid question is that? She’s my sister.” “Brian, how many times do I have to tell you that she’s not blood related to you and she doesn’t have your last name, she didn't allow having her name changed to your surname, remember?” He said. “And I already told you that I don’t have a thing for her. Please Craig, stop this nonsense.” “Are you sure about that?” “Positive.” I said. “Okay so I won’t be giving you any problems when I say that I like her and I want her to be my girlfriend?” I felt my heart skip a beat at what he said. I stared at him for a moment, comprehending the words that came out from his mouth. “Y-you’re doing what?” I finally manage to say. “I like her, she’s funny, smart, clumsy and innocent.” He said, smiling his face. “But you’re like too old for her, and she’s not really your… type.” He chuckled. “That’s the reason why I like her, she’s not my type and yet, she captured me through her own uniqueness. And please, age doesn’t matter.” I felt my heart beat faster than it’s normal beat. I don’t know what this feeling is. I clench my fist like I want to punch him straight in the face. “W-why are you saying that to me like it’s going to be a problem?” I acted and lied. “Nothing, I just feel like telling you… you know you’re the step-brother anyways.” He said and shrug his shoulders. “Got to go home.” He played with his keys and left. I took deep breaths. Why do I feel so pissed? Brian Hart, this is not like you at all. ^^^^^^ “Morning.” Kris said with a smile while making toast in the kitchen.  While my dad was in the corner drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. “Morning, guys.” I said and looked around. “Where’s Sa-Santee?” I asked. Wow, I miss calling her Santee. “She didn’t tell you?” She said looking puzzled. “She told she has some extra-curricular activity in school that she needs to be early.” “What activity?” I asked. “I… I didn’t ask.” She said. “It’s okay… I’ll just… catch up with her.” I said and went out. She’s been avoiding me for the past months now. She’s always early at school and going home late. We haven’t talked or even see each other that much. I’ve been worried about Craig, now that he said that he likes her, I know he’s serious. He’s a total player, but this is that first time that he said something about a girl like that. He’s smile while talking about Santana was genuine, it’s his true feelings. *SANTANA MILLER* It’s been more than a month since the incident with Brian happen. I’ve been trying my best to avoid him. I don’t want to see his face, not even he’s shadow. “Hello there, Chicka, long time no see.” A guy put his arms around my shoulders. I stared at him, trying to remember his name. “Oh, com’on, don’t tell me that forgot about this handsome face?” He said when he noticed that I didn’t respond at him. “I’m sorry but who are you again?” I ask. “Ouch, Chika, you totally made my heart break.” He said dramatically and that made me chuckle. “I’m Mario… Ring a bell?” “Oh, right, Mario! Yeah at the party, I remember you.” “You hurt my feelings for not recognizing me.” He said and pouted. “I’m sorry I’m not really good with names.” I said. “That’s alright, at least you’re still cute Chicka.” He said with a smile. “By the way, where’s Brian?” “Why would I know where he is?” “Are you guys fighting?” “Why do you ask?” I said. “Because you guys are both frowning. Brian looked like that this morning.” He said pointing at my nose. “Shut up.” I slap his finger away from my face and he laugh. “You’re so cute Chicka.” “Hey, I’m sorry.” Carmen said panting. She is about to say something when she notice that I’m not alone. “Hi?” “Hey, there sexy momma.” Mario said and I rolled my eyes while Carmen giggled. “I’m Carmen, Santana’s friend.” She said and offered her hands. “Marrrrio at your service.” He said and kiss her hands. “Guys please, stop all the flirting in the afternoon, it hurts my eyes.” I said teasing them. Carmen hissed. “You have to find a your own boyfriend.” She said. “I don’t need one.” I said firmly. “I can be your lover boy, Chicka.” Mario said. “Oh, please just leave Mario, didn’t you tell me that you have to find someone else?” “Oh yea… bye beautiful ladies.” He waved at us and left. “He’s cute, why do you always meet cute guys before me?” She ask. I shrug my shoulders. “I don’t know either.” Carmen and I always go to work together and we’re always having fun with each other’s company. At least when I’m with her, I can’t think about Brian. I was waiting for the coffee that a customer ask for when the wind chime moved and made some sound signaling that there is a new customer. “Welco…” when I saw who the person was that walked in the door, I couldn't finish my sentence.
