the last time
In the luxurious presidential suite of the hotel, clothes were scattered on the floor. On the rumpled bed lay the calmness after their passionate encounter. The night was eerily quiet. The sound of water came from the bathroom, dripping softly.
Su Xixi lay quietly on the bed, her clear black eyes fixed on the bathroom door. Her small hand, hidden under the covers, clenched into a tight fist, wrinkling the sheets with a "rustle." The bathroom door opened, and a sturdy man with the scent of shower gel walked out.
He didn't glance at the person on the bed but bent down to pick up the clothes on the floor. Walking to the dressing mirror, he calmly put on each piece of clothing.
"Sir..." Su Xixi looked at the broad and sturdy back of the man and called out softly.
"Hmm." The man didn't turn around, just gave a faint acknowledgment, barely a response.
"I... next time... I won't do it. The surgery fee for my brother is enough." Her voice almost faded into dust, her long eyelashes drooping, eyes filled with timidity.
The man, in the midst of tying his tie, paused slightly at her words, his thin lips curling downwards.
"Alright!" He said, his voice firm, devoid of emotion.
He grabbed the nearby suit jacket, swiftly putting it on. "Take the medicine."
His words reminded Su Xixi on the bed. She subconsciously turned her head to the bedside table, where the contraceptive pills prepared for her were placed.
She had gotten used to this arrangement.
Every time after, she obediently took the pills, never needing him to remind her, and he rarely mentioned it intentionally.
But today, after she bid him farewell, he actually brought it up himself, which surprised her a little. But then again, she understood.
Perhaps he thought they wouldn't meet again in the future, fearing she might secretly conceive his child and come looking for him later. After all, someone as prominent as him wouldn't want to have even the slightest connection with her.
She wanted to tell him that she would obediently take the pills and he didn't need to worry. But she found that he had already left the bedroom, disappearing from her sight.
Two years later.
In X City, in the meeting room of the Lixing Grand Hotel.
"Xixi, has everything been checked in the presidential suite? Are there any flaws? The guest is arriving at three this afternoon," the general manager Tan Yan asked, tapping his pen, his expression tense.
Su Xixi nodded. "Everything has been confirmed, there are no problems, just..."
"Just what?" Tan Yan looked at her hesitating expression and asked.
"We don't have any information about the guest's identity. How do we arrange for someone to pick them up at the airport?" Su Xixi said.
Tan Yan waved his hand. "No need for pick-up. Because the guest's itinerary is confidential, the information we have at the hotel is very limited. However, I can tell you all that this person coming is a big shot we can't afford to offend, so each and every one of you needs to be at the top of your game. Got it?"
"Yes, understood," everyone answered in unison.
"After the meeting, the management and catering departments will confirm the menu for the presidential suite tonight again. Make sure this reception is flawless," Tan Yan instructed, throwing his pen aside, about to adjourn the meeting when someone rushed in hurriedly from outside the conference room.
"Mr. Tan, the VIP has arrived early and is already at the entrance, preparing to disembark," the bellboy Xiao He reported breathlessly.
