Chapter 3: Early Arrival
“Nik!” Ashley calls from her bedroom. “Do you have the gift wrapped for Poppi?”
I call back, “No worries. I’ve got it right here with the rest of the gifts. What about the wine?”
Ashley appears in her doorway dragging her suitcase, a tense look on her face. She looks as if we are setting out on an African safari or something.
“Chill, Ash. We’ve got this under control. All the gifts, the wine, and Granny’s pumpkin cookies. Poppi will be happy to have us there. And if we meet Lenore, no worries. He might not even be that serious about her. Take it light.”
