Chapter 12Early that Thursday evening, Percy was the first to arrive at The Golden Lion to cast an eagle eye over the final arrangements. He had to admit the room looked modestly festive, in keeping with the personal nature of the gathering. Restlessly, Percy re-arranged the vases of flowers and smoothed the tablecloth. He was about to resort to straightening the cutlery when he heard the sounds of another early arrival coming up the stairs.
