The road took them through a changing landscape. Open farmland gave way to hilly woodlands rising to the mountains. Throughout the six hour drive, Danny refrained from asking Evan about the events of the last two days. This trip was supposed to be an escape—so no wedding preparations, no family drama, no questions.
