Chapter 26
The next morning, Danny was up early. He knocked on Evan’s door and called out, “Are you awake? We have a long trip ahead of us.” Danny smiled as he heard the muffled swearing from within. A minute later Evan had padded to the door and opened it. Dressed only in a pair of gray sleep pants, his chest and feet bare, Evan looked young and adorably sleep-muddled. Danny couldn’t help grinning.
Evan ran his hands through his disheveled curls and squinted at Danny. “Are you always this perky in the morning? ‘Cause in some countries I’ve been in, it’s grounds for justifiable homicide.”
Danny smiled. “I’m sorry, but it’s another hour’s drive to the park and then an hour and a half hike. So if you want any breakfast, and trust me, you do want Martha’s breakfast, you need to get moving.
