Revenge without vengence

**Shwetha's POV** No wonder how he reached this position so soon; he is really hardworking. This is my first day working here, but I feel like an experienced assistant because he is ordering me around like a pro. Finally, I completed all my tasks. When I looked at my watch, it showed 10:00 p.m. Really, who makes an employee work until 10 o'clock on their first day? After finishing my work, I went to his room to inform him. 'Knock knock.' "Yes, come in, Miss Shweta," he said, adding, "If you have finished your work, you can take your leave, Miss Shweta. And be punctual tomorrow; don’t be late like you were today." "Okay, sir," I said and took my leave. My whole day was ruined because of that monkey face's mistake in sending the appointment letter. Because of him, I was late today. Because of him, I almost lost a wonderful colleague. How dare he assassinate my character for his interview? And he didn’t even inform his friend about his mistakes in distributing the appointment orders. Monkey face. Thinking all this, I left for my apartment. As soon as I reached my home—sorry, my apartment—I dialed my home’s landline number. Soon, my mother picked up the call. "Hello? Ma?" "Hello? My child? How are you?" "I'm fine, Ma. How are you and Dad?" "How can we be fine without you? Okay, why am I talking nonsense like this? Have you had your dinner?" "No, Ma, I just came from work." "The time is 10:30 p.m., my child. You still haven’t had your food. What’s the need for you to work in someone else’s company when you have thousands of crore businesses? Please leave that job and come home, my child." "Ma, you know why I came here. It's not just about the job," I said. "My child, can't we just leave this matter? Can you please drop your revenge game for our family? Please, child, think about this once again. Taking revenge can’t be a solution to everything." "Ma, you know I'm not someone who loves to play revenge games. But this time, I think it is necessary. I just can't sit and watch my father lying on a hospital bed, struggling for his life just for being good to everyone. He is in this situation just because he followed the rules and was honest." I could hear my mother's weeping through the phone. "Ma, please don’t cry. Everything will be alright. I'm here for you. Just remember that everything will be alright soon. I'm not going to work in this company forever; it’s just a matter of a few days. After getting all the required information, I'll return home. Please don’t worry. Take care of the security network. Don’t drown in your sorrow and spoil your health. I made sure the security is tight around the hospital. Please be safe at home. My security team is also very good. Please don’t worry about anything. I’ll call you tomorrow, Ma. Bye." "Bye, my child. Take care of your health," she said. I won’t leave this job without destroying Narasimha Reddy’s Reddy Groups of Companies. The next morning, I got ready for work and decided to take my car because I didn’t want to be late again. Whenever I think about yesterday’s situation, I keep remembering that monkey face and getting irritated. I just want to cover his head with a bed sheet and punch him at least ten times. Now I’m stuck in a traffic jam. Oh, this city and its traffic jams—really irritating! To pass the time, I looked around. I saw a cute little girl with her adorable puppy. She was holding that puppy close to her chest and kissing its forehead. How cute she was! She was really loving that puppy. I saw her whispering something into the puppy's ear and then putting it down. Then she moved towards an ice cream shop and bought an ice cream. Suddenly, I saw the puppy moving towards the road. Now it was in the middle of the road. Suddenly, the signal turned green. Now the puppy was stuck in the middle of the road with cars moving all around it. Everyone was honking their horns. Now it was traumatized and started barking. When I reached the puppy, I decided to stop my car and take it inside. When I stopped the car, suddenly another car hit the puppy and sped away without even stopping for a second. Seeing that broke my heart. When I looked for the girl, I saw her standing there with tears in her eyes, and her ice cream was broken on the ground. Then she started moving towards the puppy without even looking right or left. I went towards her and helped her reach her puppy carefully. Now she was crying very hard, so I decided to take the puppy to the hospital. I asked her, "Can we take him to the hospital?" She agreed. Then we went to the hospital and admitted him. After a while, I realized she was with a stranger without her parents. I asked her for her parents' phone number and informed her not to go out with strangers. She nodded her head while crying. I consoled her, saying that nothing would happen to the puppy and he would be okay soon. Saying that, I realized that I was running out of time because it was now 8:00 a.m. I had to be in my office by 8:30, and my dress was completely ruined by blood. I didn’t know what to do. Suddenly, I remembered Anu. She lived in a nearby area and could reach the office within 10 minutes from her house. So I thought she hadn’t left home yet. I dialed her number. She picked up the phone. I told her to get me a new dress. While all this was going on, the girl's parents arrived at the hospital. I informed them about the situation, and they thanked me. After that, I moved towards my car and started driving to my office. Anu and I arrived at the same time. I saw her cousin dropping her off. I informed her that I would come after parking my car. While parking, I noticed the same car that hit the puppy. After getting out, I immediately asked the security guard about the car's owner. He replied that this car belonged to his beloved Arun sir, who is none other than that monkey face. After knowing this, I became really angry and started hating that person. At the same time, Anu reached there. "Shweta, what happened to your dress? Are you hurt somewhere? Why is there so much blood on your dress?" she asked. "Nothing to worry about. There was an accident involving a puppy, so I went to the hospital to admit it. That’s why I got late. Thanks for your dress; I’ll return it tomorrow," I said. "Don’t mention it. If you want, you can keep the dress. You can give it back to me whenever you want. By the way, you actually did a very good thing. You are a kind person, Shweta," she said. "Okay, now I have to change; otherwise, I will be late, and that grumpy face will scold me and remind me about being late to work every hour." She laughed at my words. Obviously, she thought I was funny, but I only knew my situation. Oh god, okay. "I'll talk to you later; I have to change now," I informed her. Then I went to the restroom, changed into my new dress, and put my old dress in a carry bag. After getting dressed, I started moving towards my boss's office. When I reached there, I looked at the time: it was 8:31. I knocked on his office door. He ordered me to come in. When I entered, he said, "8:32. You are two minutes late for work today. May I know, Miss Shweta, do you love getting late for work every day?" he asked mockingly. I wanted to wipe that mocking smirk off his face. Sorry, but I must mention that the monkey face was also sitting in front of him. Because of him, I was now late. "Two heartless people in a single room—wow! What could be better than this?" "Actually, sir, while coming, a heartless bastard caused an accident on the road that hurt a puppy. So, I had to admit that puppy to the hospital. If he hadn’t caused that accident, I would have arrived on time. Sorry for being late. I won’t make this mistake again. It won’t justify my act of being late," I said, emphasizing "heartless bastard." The person in front of my boss looked shocked by my response. Now, I was looking at my boss’s amused face when he replied, "You are really kind, Ms. Shweta, but you can show your kindness and serve people during your free time, not during my office hours. During my office hours, you are just my assistant, not a social worker. Remember that. Please bring us some coffee." "Okay, sir." While entering his office with a tray of coffee cups, I saw that monkey face laughing loudly, and my boss looking at him deadly. I was amused—can anyone laugh that hard when someone is looking at them so menacingly? Impossible. When I entered, he stood up, walked to me, took the tray from my hands, and told me, "Please don’t serve coffee to your boss if you don’t want to clean up the broken coffee cups on the floor." Saying that, he walked to the table and placed the tray on it. After that, both of them looked at me. I stood there, not knowing what to do when suddenly that monkey face commented, "Oh, your assistant is just like you. Why is she competing with you to be grumpy? Just boring." Hearing him, I felt my face growing red with anger. When my boss ordered me, "You can leave." As soon as those words left his mouth, I sprinted out of that room. My morning was completely ruined just because of that monkey face. After that, I worked until 11:30 a.m. Well, it seemed like 11:30 p.m., but it was actually just 11:30 a.m. It was break time now. I decided to have some coffee. When I reached the cafeteria, I ordered my coffee and took a seat on the bench where Anu was sitting with an older lady. When I reached there, Anu asked me, "What happened? Why do you look so dull?" I narrated the whole incident from the morning. She listened attentively. When I finished, the older lady exclaimed, "I can't believe Arun can do that. He has always been a nice and good guy. If you had said our boss did that, I would have believed you. But now I have to rethink twice before coming to a conclusion," she said. Then I told her about the interview incident in which he assassinated my character. She said, "Oh girls, come on, he might have told her to check her facts. Okay, now I have some important work, so I have to go. You guys should go back to your respective tasks after drinking your coffee. There are seven minutes left. Okay, bye," the older lady said and left. "Actually, don’t mind her; she is very loyal to this company. But what I wonder is that she said she would have believed it if you had said it was our boss. I think she knows everyone in the company very well due to her experience. Sorry for speaking without introducing her. She left. 😯 Okay, she's my senior editor—such a good lady, you know? She’s been working here for 35 years. She's one of the most loyal people in the company," I said. "Okay, just focus and get ready; you have work to do, okay? Cool down. Let’s meet during lunch. You can rant about your story to me then. Always remember, there is someone here to listen to your rants, okay?" she said. "You know, the only good thing I got after coming here is you. Okay, bye now; I have to face that grumpy face and monkey face again. Argh! Okay, bye. I’m going," I said and left. She laughed at my misery. Thank you all for reading this book.See you in the next chapter.Bye Bye.Tata
