FEELING OF LOSS

547 Words
"Hello! Is this Mr. Davis Grey?" "Yes, sir. May I know who I am speaking with?" Davis asked from the other end. "Apologies for not introducing myself earlier. My name is Mr. Frank, and I am a doctor at Crystal's Hospital. Your mother has been in an accident and has been admitted here. Your presence is urgently needed. Do you know where our hospital is?" "Yes, sir. I’ll be there immediately," Davis replied, feeling restless as he ended the call. Davis worked as a cleaner at Crystal Group of Companies Limited. Despite being a graduate with excellent qualifications, the only job he could secure at the time was as a cleaner. The salary was slightly above average compared to other companies, where wages were much lower. He needed the money to cover his bills. Having lost his parents at a young age, Davis had been taken in by Miss Vivian Grey, who raised him as her own child. Miss Vivian, with no family of her own, loved him like a son. Now, faced with her accident, Davis hurriedly wrote a leave request to Mr. Justice, the head of the Cleaners' Department. He asked for a few days off to tend to his mother. Mr. Justice granted the request but on the condition that the days would be deducted from his salary. Davis accepted without hesitation. He took a cab to the hospital, and upon arriving, he quickly paid the cab driver and rushed towards the entrance. In his haste, he collided with a young lady. Unbeknownst to him, his wallet fell to the ground. He muttered a hurried "Sorry" and continued on his way, too distracted to notice. The lady stood there, stunned by his lack of attention and rushed apology. "Zero!" she called to her bodyguard. "Yes, my lady?" Zero responded, moving closer. "Find out everything about that man for me, and do it without letting my father know. Understood?" "Of course, my lady," Zero replied with a bow before leaving to carry out her orders. As the lady prepared to leave, she stepped on something. Bending down, she picked up the item—it was Davis's wallet. Although she disliked invading others’ privacy, she skimmed through it, gathering the details she needed. Satisfied, she handed the wallet to the hospital's security department and explained how she had found it. Before leaving, she tipped the Head Officer, Mr. Felix, who thanked her profusely. Meanwhile, Davis approached the reception desk and asked a nurse for his mother’s room. After being directed to her ward, he walked briskly through the corridors. Through the window, he spotted his mother lying unconscious on the hospital bed, with a nurse inside the room adjusting her IV drip. Entering the room, Davis greeted the nurse, who replied with a kind nod before leaving. Sitting beside his mother, he gently held her hand and whispered, "Mum, I miss you so much. I feel lost, like I don’t know what I’m doing. Please don’t leave me. I need you." The sight of his mother lying motionless filled him with grief. After sitting with her for some time, he instinctively reached into his pocket, only to realize his wallet was missing. Composing himself, he decided to first speak with the doctor about her condition.
