Chapter Twenty-Five A companionable silence fell between them as they rode. Since Matilda had first earned them a bed and meal at an inn, they’d aimed for a different town each night on their way to the capital and a woman Elora called the silver witch. Each day the coldness Elora displayed had thawed a little. In part, thanks to Matilda and, in part, thanks to the progress they made. The horses he’d purchased were serving them well.
