Ava and her friends arrived just as the race was about to start.
It's a warehouse yard where bikers from different clubs participated in races.
After the warehouse was abandoned by the government, they made it their racing spot.
The race is always held on the last day of every month. People who could stay up all night come to watch the midnight race.
Not even the cops could stop it from happening.
Music played loudly in the background as Ava and her friends made their way to the front—a perfect view to watch the race.
Colleen glanced around at the people around them. She could tell they weren’t just normal people who liked to party and spend their parents’ money.
Everyone who had come to watch the race was either smoking cigarettes, weed, or Indian hemp.
“This isn’t the right place to find a guy who can make Cooper jealous. We might get ourselves into trouble,” she panicked—she was a scaredy-cat and always liked staying away from trouble.
“Ava, are you even listening to me?” she asked, only to realize Ava’s eyes were fixed on a guy who was sitting on his bike, talking to another guy and smiling from the corners of his lips.
His left hand is covered in tattoos.
He is wearing a sleeveless shirt, and his strong biceps were visible to anyone who cared to look. His hair is thick and slightly tousled, falling naturally just above his eyes. He is chewing gum, giving off a natural bad boy vibes.
“That’s Nikolai,” Belly said, and Ava blinked, looking away from him. Her eyes shifted to Belly.
“Nikolai?” she muttered.
“Yes. He’s a member of the Black Vultures MC here in Miami. He’s very fearless and doesn’t even blink in the midst of danger,” Belly replied.
“How do you know him and even about this so-called midnight biker race?” Colleen asked.
“I know a lot of things, Colleen,” she rolled her eyes and cuddled Ava.
“He’s so hot, right?” she grinned. “He’s always the star of the race because he always wins,” Belly added.
“Why do you sound like you’ve been here countless times?” Colleen sighed and continued. “Let’s just go home, Ava,” she insisted.
“If you want to leave, you can leave. I’m staying. I want to see what he’s made of. He might be what I need to make Cooper jealous,” Ava said, her eyes fixed on Nikolai, who was already getting ready for the race.
He put on his helmet, and not once did Ava’s eyes leave him. There were other bikers on the track, but her attention was only on Nikolai.
Thirteen bikers lined up on the track, and a lady—her short miniskirt barely covering her thighs—stood in the middle, raising a gun into the air. The moment she fired it, the race began.
“X' Gon’ Give It To Ya ” by DMX played loudly in the background as the bikers sped off while the spectators watched with intense gazes.
It wasn’t a normal race. The track was looped, and the bikers had to speed past tires, crates, and cones.
Some of the bikers stumbled on cones, losing control of their bikes and crashing to the ground, but Nikolai kept jumping over every obstacle with his bike.
Ava was amazed by his riding skills, and she couldn’t help but smile. At one point, he even stood on the seat of his bike while riding.
“Is he crazy? What if he falls off?” Colleen said, ever the fearful one.
“He’s a driving monster. He won’t fall. I wasn’t joking when I said he’s fearless,” Belly said, rolling her eyes playfully at Colleen.
Meanwhile, Ava’s full attention remained on Nikolai.
The rest of bikers continue falling down from their bikes before reaching the finish line, but Nikolai made it through, making him the winner and as always the star of the race.
“The Black Vultures MC wins the race!” the judge announced.
The spectators cheered in excitement, and the members of the Black Vultures MC came out from different directions, doing fist bumps and shoulder bumps with Nikolai—they were all guys. They didn’t have any female members.
“I told you he’s always the star of the race,” Belly said proudly.
“And will you kindly explain how you know all this?” Colleen demanded.
While they talked, Ava jumped over the small barrier, walking toward Nikolai, who was still celebrating with his crew.
“Ava, where are you going?” Belly and Colleen asked at the same time, but that didn’t stop her.
She finally reached Nikolai and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned to look at her, his eyes scanning her beautiful face and then to her exposed slender waist with a diamond belly button ring.
“Do I know you?” he asked.
Ava didn’t answer.
She pulled him down to her height and crashed her lips into his.
“Oh my gosh!” Belly and Colleen screamed in shock.
Nikolai didn’t pull away. Instead, he kissed her back with the same intensity she brought.
His hands slid to her butt, giving it a soft squeeze.
