Chapter 1
The music thumped like a heartbeat as bodies swayed beneath diamond lights in a rooftop lounge. Club Reverie is an exclusive rooftop lounge in Miami, famously known for how expensive it is—only the elite or high-net-worth individuals can afford to host a party there. The lounge is filled with beautiful girls and handsome guys, partying like it's their last night on Earth. Since the party is hosted by Ava Morales—Miami’s most pampered rich girl—they had nothing to worry about but to eat, drink, and party. The bills were on her. Ava is the daughter of the richest family in Miami and a second-year student at UM, where she's majoring in Architecture. Every Friday night is a big deal for UM students, especially those who are Ava’s course mates or friends, because she always makes sure to invite everyone close to her to her Friday night parties—where she spends money like a child sipping her favorite juice. Her parents never question how she spends money, so she lives her life the way she wants—lavishly and freely. Among everyone she invited to the party, Colleen and Belly are the ones she keeps closest—they’re her best friends. They also come from affluent families, though Ava still remains the richest among them and in the entire school. “Where’s Ava?” Colleen asked Belly, walking up to her while she was twerking and having fun. Besides being Ava’s friend and from a rich family, Belly is also known in college for her big butt. Belly stopped twerking, her eyes darting around the rooftop lounge in search of Ava. “She’s not here,” she said. “And that’s why I’m asking you where she is. The Ava I know would be right here, dancing like her life depends on it,” Colleen replied. “Could she have left?” Belly asked. “Don’t act like you don’t know our best friend. There’s no party without Ava Morales. She literally hosted this party, remember?” Belly nodded. “You’re right. We should look for her. A party isn’t fun without her.” Belly and Colleen left the rooftop lounge and went in search of Ava. They found her leaning against the white wall in the alley close to the rooftop. Her face was filled with worry as she kept calling and texting someone. “There you are, Party Queen. What are you doing out here instead of partying like you're famous for?” Belly asked. Ava sighed before replying. “I’m trying to reach Cooper, but he’s been ghosting me. He’s not answering my calls or replying to my texts.” Cooper is her boyfriend—they’ve been dating for two years. Ava loves him deeply and is convinced he loves her just as much. Like her, he’s from an affluent family. They were family friends until a spark ignited between them and they started dating. “Did you two have an argument? The two of you are always fighting like cats and dogs,” Colleen said. “No, we didn’t. We talked after school, and we were cool with each other, no fighting, no arguments,” Ava replied. “So why is he ignoring your texts and calls?” Colleen pressed. “If I knew, I wouldn’t be this worried. He’s never acted like this before—it’s making me anxious,” Ava admitted. Belly chuckled and patted her shoulder. “Relax, Party Queen. Cooper isn’t a baby. He’s probably just busy.” “Yeah, Belly’s right. You’re free to party anytime, but Cooper has a strict dad—like the devil’s right-hand man. He’s probably drowning your boyfriend in company work,” Colleen added. “You think so?” Ava asked, still worried. “Yes. So take a chill pill. You’ll see him in school tomorrow,” Belly said, playing with her chin. “What you should be doing is partying—like you’re known for. There’s no party without you, Ava Girl,” Colleen teased, making Ava smile. “There’s no party without me,” Ava echoed, taking off her leather jacket. “Let’s party all night!” she shrieked, tossing the jacket aside. Her friends screamed in excitement as the three musketeers returned to the rooftop lounge together. Ava grabbed a bottle of champagne, shook it hard, and shouted, “Everyone, it’s time to f*****g rock this party!” She popped the cork and the champagne splashed on her face while her guests screamed their lungs out. “Let’s party all night!” she yelled again, and the DJ played her favorite hip-hop track. Ava was an amazing dancer—she moved to the rhythm, flipping her thick, dark hair side to side, rolling her slender waist like a snake. She was never seen in a blouse or T-shirt—always in a crop top, flaunting her slim waist and the diamond ring piercing in her belly button. She's twenty-two-year-old, but yet so stunning. Her eyes were enchanting and her lips—full and tempting will make anyone want to kiss her at first sight. “If it’s up, then it’s up, then it’s up, then it’s stuck! If it's up, then it's up, then it's up, then it's stuck!" she sang at the top of her lungs, dancing to the beat. She and Belly were incredible twerkers, while Colleen, who wasn’t great at dancing, just jumped around and hyped Ava up. As the lounge blasted with hip-hop hits from Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, and more, Ava kept ordering drinks and throwing cash into the air, letting it rain down like confetti.
