Chapter 1
Leilys P.O.V
"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!", I apologized to the lady I'd bumped into on the street. I was crouching on the ground, helping her pick up her shopping bags and stuff. I stood up, handing back her stuff. She looked at me, and at first I thought she looked mad, but as her eye met mine her mouth turned up in a smile. I smiled happily back.
"I really am sorry, I don't know what flew in me. I didn't mean to bump into you", I continued to apologize. The lady just waved her hand in the air, as to wave my apologies away.
"No need to worry dear. Actually you could make it up to me by going to a café with me", she said with a happy tone. She took my arm in hers and started walking towards the nearest café before I could object. I happily walked with her and it didn't take long before we arrived. We got inside and ordered. The lady went ahead before me to pick out seats. I was about to follow her when a little boy ran into me, his head bumping into my stomach. I gently put my hand on his head.
"Are you okay?", I asked smiling. He smiled back at me, showing his teeth. I can't wait until the day I have kids, I thought to myself.
"I'm okey! Thank you!", he replied, still smiling and started running once again. I looked after him, adoring the little beautiful creature, as he ran back to his mother. When I turned around to head to the lady, I saw she was watching me and had seen the whole incident. I got to the table quickly, she had picked a table for two by the window, and she followed me with her eyes, smiling the entire time. I sat down in front of her, smiling back at her. She actually was very pretty for an old woman. She had white short hair. Her face was full of pretty wrinkles that just showed her age. She was just a little shorter me and she had typical old lady clothes. She was wearing floral dress, a cardigan and shawl. The outfit was paired with a pair of wooden sandals and a beige coat.
"Your good with kids", she remarked and I nodded.
"I adore them" I replied. The lady looked at me with hopeful eyes.
"I need to ask you something", the lady started. I looked at her and felt my heart beginning to beat faster, I was getting nervous. I swallowed and nodded.
"I would like to offer you a job", she continued. I was shocked and confused. She smiled when she saw my expression. "My two sons, that are the two CEO's of a pretty big company, need a new personal assistant and cook. The job would mean you would move in with them, work for them and cook for them. I'm asking you because I feel like I can trust you with my boys", she explained. My mind was empty. I didn't know what to say.
"And of course the pay is pretty good", she adds. Her face had now become serious and I now understood why she looked at me so hopefully earlier. I knew what she was doing. She was playing matchmaker for her two boys and it was obvious. The right thing might have been to turn the offer down. But honestly I could use the money right now. I wasn't at the most easy point in my life right now, battling three awful paying jobs and social life.
"Do I need to move in with them?", I ask, feeling that it wouldn't be appropriate. The lady smiled once again.
"It's your choice dear, but most of our past personnel have appreciated it", she answered and I nodded understandingly.
"If you accept they'll still make you go through a job interview on Monday, but I'll put in a good word for you", she said smiling.
"I would gladly take the job", I replied and smiled showing my teeth. The lady looked at me with pure joy. She stood up and I followed. Surprisingly she embraced me in a hug, and I tightly hugged her back.
"Oh my, how rude of me!", she burst out and detached herself from the hug. I give her a confused look. "I'm Glenda. And whats your name dear?", she said.
"Oh! I'm Leo!", I replied at the lady and her smile got even bigger... if thats possible.
"Well I beg your pardon but I have to leave", she said a little disappointed. I told her goodbye and she left. It wasn't long until I too walked out and started heading towards my best friends house.
I knocked on her door and it immediately opened. There she stood in sweatpants and hoodie, eating chocolate chip cookies. Her blond hair was up in a messy bun and her lips turned up into a big smile when she saw me.
"Leo!", she exclaimed and motioned for me to go in.
"Emely!", I exclaimed in return and gave her my best smile. Emely was the person who really had been there for me, through rough times and good. She had always stood by my side and I had tried to do the same for her. I loved her like a sister and didn't know what I'd do without her.
I walked inside, closing the door behind me and taking of my jacket and shoes. It was warm and cozy in her apartment, if you compared it to the cold November air outside here in New York.
"I broke up with Evan", she blurted out. I looked at her surprised. She stood in her kitchen, pouring up a glass of milk. Evan had been one of her longer relationships. Not that any of her relationships had been long, it mostly was between 2-8 months. She had been together with Evan for seven moths, defiantly placing in the top three. I couldn't help but to see her as a hopeless romantic.
"Why?", I ask, curious about the answer.
"I'll tell you, but please don't say 'I told you so'", she said and I nodded. I knew exactly what he'd done when she said that. I had never liked him and I had tried to make Emely see his bad sides. But stubborn as she is, she didn't and now we're here.
"He cheated on me", she said sad. I looked at her with sad eyes and pity. She really didn't deserve to be treated the way she had been in many of her relationships. I walked up to her and embraced her in a tight hug. She was a little taller than me, so her head rested perfectly on my shoulder.
"You know you deserve someone better", I said, still hugging her.
"I know", she replied. "I really though he was gonna be different, you know", she continued. We unraveled from he hug and I looked at her.
"You are the most beautiful and kindest person I know. The right person will come in time", I reassured and she gave me a smile. I always wanted to make people feel better. Like it was my secret duty. I had some clothes at her house, so I changed into a Winnie the Pooh hoodie and some black sweatpants.
"What's been going on in your life?", she asked, changing the subject. We both went and sat down on the couch.
"Actually, I almost got a job today", I replied. She looked at me confused.
"What do you mean 'almost got a job'", she asked and I smiled.
"Well the mother of two CEOs asked me if I wanted to be their personal assistant and cook", I replied. I knew she was gonna bombard me with questions. And sure enough she did.
"Wait WHAT?!", she almost yelled. "WHAT CEO'S", she asked and I couldn't help but giggle.
"I don't know", I calmly answered.
"What do you mean you don't know?", she questioned and I couldn't do anything but shrug. I heard my phone ring, notifying that I had gotten a message. I took it of the coffee-table and looked who it was from.
Glenda:
Hi dear! Could you go over to my boys house and cook them some dinner. Me and my husband took a impulsive vacation to Hawaii and I'm afraid they'll burn the house down. They won't be home so you'll be alone in the house.
Best regards Glenda!
I quickly replied:
Leo:
Ofcourse!
She sent the address and some codes for the house. Well guess I'll start earlier then I though.
"Sorry Emely, but the duty's calling", I said, giving her a apologetic look.
"They want you to work this late?", she asked and I nodded. She bid me adieu and I did the same before grabbing a cab and heading towards the address Glenda had sent me.
When I got out of the cab I froze. This must've been the wrong place. This wan't a house... this was a mansion! It was by far the prettiest and biggest house I'd seen in my entire life. Slowly I walked towards the door and put in the code I'd received from Glenda. I heard a click and opened the door. It was even prettier on the inside. I quickly took of my jacked and shoes, remembering why I was there, and started heading towards the kitchen. I looked in their fridge and cooked some steak and made a salad. I put two plates on the table with the food and two glasses of white wine. I had put some music on and started singing to 'Gonna love ya' by Avicii, using a wooden spoon as a microphone. I was startled by the sounds of glass shattering on the floor and I quickly looked behind me. Seeing to of the most handsomest men I'd seen in my entire life.
