  Athena's body is still weak but much better than when she first opened her eyes. She could still feel the emptiness, a strange void separating her from the other half of her being. Her wolf was silent, detached. It was as if a thin veil had been drawn between them, one that muted everything. No growl. No whisper. Just a deafening silence.   'Maybe... I really am just an omega,' she thought bitterly, her voice barely a whisper, fighting back the tears in her eyes. 'Maybe that's why my father looked at me with nothing but disgust and disappointment. A beta with a useless daughter.'   She tried once more to reach for her wolf. Searching, straining for any sign, any echo from the part of her that was now disturbingly absent. Nothing. It felt dead.   Her thoughts were abruptly interrupted
