Chapter 14

1458 Words
Zinnia P.O.V. I feel like sleeping. Daddy gave me food and put me in his dumb car. I wish uncle Theo would let me sleep over. Daddy never allows me to do fun things as Sage does, don't get me wrong, I don't hate Sage, but I kind of wish Daddy was more like uncle Theo. I looked out the window, watching other people driving in their cars and people walking on the sidewalks. Some as tall as daddy and others small running around. Why is everyone busy? Wait a minute ... where are we going? Daddy drives underground and parks the car. He gets out and grabs a bag, taking me out of my car seat, carrying me to the elevator. We stop after the sixth bing. Daddy steps out, walking us to the end of the hall opening the door. "Well, hello Owen, I didn't think to see you here!" A woman says behind the desk. Stepping out, and kisses daddy on the cheek. I turn my face away from the woman, glaring at her and daddy as they both laugh. "Well, who's this little girl?" "This is Zinnia. She is my little and pet." "Oh! Owen, you got yourself lucky. You don't find a lot of those kinds of littles unless you go down north." "Yes, I am fortunate. By the way, do I need to sign one of those papers?" The lady jumps up and runs behind the desk, bringing out papers. Daddy sits me down as he signs them. Looking around the room, I see colour posters and different bears and toys on a table. Daddy did not just bring me to one of those classes for littles. I'm going to during his work when we get at back home.. daddy will see hell now since he is dropping me off. The lady walks up to me, bending down to my eye level. "Hello, sweetheart. My name is Sara, and I will be helping you throughout the day." As her arms were going to wrap around me, I bit down hard on her arm. Sara jumps back from me, making daddy turn his head, looking at me. "Zinnia, behave or else." Daddy turned to the woman and said sorry on my behalf. Daddy grabs me, holds me up, walking us into a big room filled with kids my height running around. You got to be ducking me.. this little trash monster of a daddy bought me to daycare... I hope daddy loves his clothes and shoes because they will be looking different when I get my hands on them. "Zinnia, I know you hate places like this, but the reason why I bought you here was so that I can get some of my work done. You are only going to be here for a couple of hours then we can go home and have a big part. Okay, pet?" I keep watching the kids run around, nodding my head at daddy. Daddy lets me down and hands the bag to Sara. He bends down whisper in my ear. "We will be back in time to have some lunch together. Then we can go over to Sage places if you are good here." "Okay," I breathe out. I was ready to leave now, forget everything else. Noting worse than having to deal with other littles who think they have everything or they try to rub it in your face. But yes, daddy will have an end of his clothes for making me stay in this very hall!! I wish Sage were here. She would look like a doll compared to everyone else. I don't look at daddy and walk to the window, watching the birds fly high in the sky. I wish I could have wings, but not too high where I might get burned by the sun. Watching from the corner of my eye, I watch as daddy walks away, still talking to that Sara. I remember when our caregivers would tell us that we might get a daddy and a mommy, or sometimes one of them. But I feel like I can't even share my daddy with anyone else. It just makes me angry seeing him talking to that woman. Turning my attention back to the sky, they are the pretty blue sky. What's it like to be big? It must be fun. Everyone gets to do better things. Just think, they can have candy whenever they want! And daddy says I can't have cake until after dinner, but I always get too full! Sometimes I want to eat it right in front of him, and he can't do a thing about it!! Hehe.. that will be a dream. "Hey," I feel someone tap my shoulder. There is a little boy my height with blonde hair and brown eyes looking at me. I have heard of those little things. This is my first time seeing a little boy. I wonder if he is like Sage? They usually keep little boys away from the girls, always ensuring the pet's never seen a boy. It's something I always wounded about, but I guess this daycare doesn't care. "Hey," I say back. He looks up and down and smiles. "Want to play with me? Just don't make me dress up like a girl please, there are already enough girls here." I smile at him. Maybe he isn't that bad. "Sure, but let's get one thing straight." "Let me guess. You want to hold my hand?" "Eeew, no. I would rather kiss a frog and turn into a prince than hold hands with you." The boy smiles and starts laughing. "You are the first girl who has ever said that to me. I think we are going to be best friends." "Yeah, about that, there is someone else who is ahead. You are best friend number two, not one." His smiles drop, and he looks all around. I giggle. "She isn't here right now. Maybe next time, you will get to see her." He nods his head, looking out the window that I was looking through, watching the bright blue sky and the sun high in the sky. It's been a while since I have been able to do something like this. I used to do this all the time when I was in place. "My name is Jaimes. I have been with my daddy for almost five years." "Oh, so you have been here for a while?" "Yep, my daddy is one of the bosses in this building." That's interesting. His daddy might be my daddy's boss. Maybe it's a good thing I have him as a friend then. He might be the only one who understands my feelings. And from the sounds of it, he knows his ways around. "Name is Zinnia. I think I have been with my daddy for two weeks now? I can't remember" "Oooh, one of the new ones that got out." "What do you mean, Jaimes?" Jaimes takes a deep breath, looking around to see if there are others everywhere. "Well, every little and pet comes from there. And let's say, if you are not chosen within a time zone, you will be sent off somewhere." "Where?" "Well, I overheard that some get sent off different parts of the worlds. After that, I'm not too sure." I always thought everyone gets picked, but it looks like he knows a lot more than Jaimes is saying. Maybe I should wait for a while until I say something. I don't want him to run to his daddy, and it ends up my daddy finds out I asked. "Alright, Mr. Jaimes, I wish to play coffee shop! And no, you can't be a Customer. You get to cook all the food." I wink at him, making him groan. I love bossing people around. Maybe I should ask daddy for a dog. Maybe then someone can listen to me, and I don't need to act up. Two hours later. "Come on, Jaimes, it's time to leave." I hear a voice call out. Turning my head, I see a tall man standing there in business wear. Jaimes smiles and nods. "See you later, Zinnia! Hope to see you soon!" Jaimes smiles at me. "See you later, Jaimes!" I watched Jaimes walk up to his daddy. I could still hear their conversation. "Daddy, I met that girl, and she said she doesn't like like me as the other girls do!" He laughs at him, picking him up as they walk out of doors. I smile, watching the door close. For the first time, I had a great time without Sage. I hope she is doing alright. I wonder what she is doing right now?
