Chapter 10

1303 Words
Sarah Ever since the incident with Tristan at the office, things have changed so entirely. I could not help myself that day, call me foolish or crazy. But when I told Xavier I liked him. I meant every word. He has been a complete gentleman, in the most rugged way possible. I went to the office with him, every day. Sylvia took me on a tour of the upper level where Xavier’s office was and some employees resided. They were quite friendly, though some of the ladies gave me harsh glares. I guess they could not believe that Xavier had been with me so long and their shot at being with him was gone. Recently, I met this funny man named Kevin while Xavier was in meetings I went and visited him. Currently, I was sitting in his office, trying to stack pencils with him. He was a heartthrob, with his floppy brown hair, green eyes and muscular body. Xavier was bigger than him, but he had the personality of a fun-loving kid and not a 25 year old adult. So that made up for the fact. “So you and the boys are together.” He asks, raising an eyebrow at me. Not with malice just curiosity. “Umm… yeah I guess… in a way. Ugh… I don’t know Kev, I just don’t know.” I answer, frustrated. The pencils choose that moment to fall over, after we had gotten them stacked neatly and precisely. He sat up and pushed the hair away from his eyes. “Just ask him, then you’ll know. We men don’t know what women are thinking every single time, so just lay it out in front of him.” I scoff at how simple he makes it seem. I cannot walk up to him and ask, can I? “Do you really think it is possible for me to ask such a thing and get a straight answer.” I ask, apprehensively. “It’s up to him, he might but then again he might not answer you.” He answers, shrugging his shoulders. That observation sounded even more dissuading. If I did ask, I’d most likely pee my pants with how nervous I’d be. Shaking my head, I ask him the question that had been on my mind since we met. “Kevin, how come you never talk about your love life?” I question. He always asked about me and what my love life was like throughout the years but I had never heard his story. “Well, there is not much to tell, I simply haven’t found the right someone yet but I do have my eye on someone right now.” He answers, mysteriously. “Well, who is it then, you have to tell me!” I shout, eager to hear his answer. He laughs and shakes his head. “All I can say is that she is beautiful and makes me laugh a lot.” He half answers. I let out a frustrated sigh and cross my arms. It was not fair, that he would not fully answer the question. He chuckled at my actions and threw an eraser at me. It landed on my new shirt. I picked it up and threw it back at him. Trying to aim for his face. “You look nice today. Is that outfit new? He compliments. I reply with a quick thanks and nod my head in affirmation. I could not help but break out into a broad grin. A few days ago, Xavier had taken me shopping. The entire time, I did not want even touch the clothes let alone buy them. I wanted to get a job and buy clothes on my own but he refused it. Instead, loaded me up with different pieces. “You must be thinking about something really sexy or funny to be grinning so hard.” He says, wiggling his eyebrows. I cover my mouth as I laugh, to avoid drawing attention. Getting up, he bent down, holding his arms to receive a piggyback ride. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he secured my legs within his arms. “Onward to the cafeteria, stallion.” I yell. He turned his head to look at me with a raised eyebrow. “Onward to the cafeteria, stallion? Who phrases a battle cry like that.” He asks. I shrug and my shoulders and point to the elevator. “Mush!” I yell, with a soft kick to his side. He started to to move, I could not help but laugh. It didn't matter that people were staring at us or that we might seem weird. I could recall a time I had this much fun. Xavier was so serious a lot of times so I couldn’t do this with him. I saw Xavier coming towards us so I urged Kevin foreword. The look in Xavier’s eyes when we got closer was unfamiliar. It almost appeared that he was mad, but that couldn’t be it. “Hi Xavier, we are playing horse and carriage, and it’s so mu-“ “Come here flower.” I shake my head, staying firmly latched to Kevin’s body. “Why, we were just going to lunch. Do you want to come too?” I inquire. “Come here right now Sarah.” He commands. “But…” I whine. “NOW!” He bellows. My eyes prick with tears as I slide down Kevin’s body. Xavier has never yelled at me so his outburst shocked me to the core. I walk over and stand next to him, my eyes downcast. “Can I at least say goodbye to Kevin?” I ask, my voice cracks at the end. “No you cannot.” He answers, grabbing my wrist and pulling me away. I turn back, with my free hand I wave, saddened by the fact that I could not spend more time with my friend. We turn the corner and enter his office, slamming the door he pushes up against it trapping me with both hands on either side of my head. “Who was that man, hmm? Why were you on his back?” He asks, furiously. I begin to stutter and tears slide down my cheeks. I hate the fact that I cry when I am yelled at or angry. I wipe my tears and stare angrily back at Xavier. “Kevin is my friend, for once in my life. I make a friend who is nice to me and is not trying to use me and you ruin it. What is your problem? Why did you just blow up like that?” I yell. “For starters, that man you call your friend is clearly into you. Therefore, attempting to steal what is mine. And on top of that, you were in his arms with his hands on your ass. How would you like it if I brought Julia here and carted her around like you were doing?” He yells back. “You know what, f**k you Xavier. If Kevin did like me which is absurd, I would remain loyal to you. Because when I say something I stick by it. I am going to eat lunch with my friend. He is better than company than you right now. I suggest you think about your actions because, right now your losing what little affection I have for you in me.” I answer back, dislodging myself from his cage. I walk out of his office and slam the door behind me, leaving him standing there.
