Prologue
February 6, 2014
Soft melodies played with my ears, as I hummed along to Beethoven's harmony. The notes filled the car as I drove to Blaze Street. I felt calm and relaxed, the main road was free, a few cars in sight, but otherwise, the street lamps were illuminating vacant streets.
My serenity was disrupted when some evil but alluring thoughts invaded my mind. Thoughts that possessed the power to make and break me. I turned up the volume, begging Beethoven to silence my thoughts, but oblivious to my attempts, they remained to torture me.
Approaching Blaze Street, I saw the predictable scene, walls vibrating through gospel music, the smell of alcohol everywhere. This place was the hot spot for fraternities and sororities. I drove cautiously towards the most famous one. There were shirtless boys laying around the front yard, some guy doing beer pong or whatever, there was a girl too, smoking pot I assumed. She had the typical goth look, laying on the grass leaning against a passed out boy, staring at me, eyeing me down making it obvious that I wasn't a very desirable visitor here.
My destination was towards the backyard of the house, as I drove to it, I found the enormous monster trucks that I was anticipating. There were about five trucks, that had graffiti on them with neon, glow-in-the-dark ink. They had obscenities written or drawn all over them. All of them however, had the name of the Frat house written proudly on the windshield with neon green glow-in-the-dark ink. Basically all the trucks had drunk teenagers messing around, drinking, smoking and shouting. However, there was one car in particular that immediately caught my eye. There was a couple in it, a girl that looked goth, black straight hair and dark make up, no doubt a member of the fraternity. The boy, shockingly, was decent with blonde hair and normal clothes. He looked normal and out of place, clarifying that he didn't belong here.
They were kissing, making out like their lives depended on it. I watched contemplating whether I should do what I was going to do to them. As they were kissing, the boy out of nowhere pulls out a ring and there went my last shred of self control.
It was aggravating me how two people from two different societies could make it work. How they could still get married and have a normal life. It was unfair, the scene had injustice boldly written in red all over them. I reversed my car as far as I could from them.
1
I closed my eyes, I saw him
2
I needed him
3
I opened my eyes and focused on the couple
I raced towards them, my speed meter be damned, I briefly saw a guy shouting, horror evident on his face but all I could feel was the desperation, the anger, the adrenaline. CRASH! My car slammed with the "happy" couple's truck, during what looked like they were embracing. My windshield burst to pieces and I felt a sharp pain on my chest. When I touched it, I felt blood everywhere, I smiled fading into the darkness, knowing he is there for me.
