The Cursed Royal

I am almost 18. In 3 days, actually. I live in the dark, dingy basement of the Blue Moon Pack house. You guessed it. I'm a slave and we are wolves. Well, not me. I was born without a wolf spirit, so I am human. I cook for over 250 members and clean the pack house every day. There are about 75 rooms in the house. It's the biggest house in the territory. I do all this daily. If i don't finish before the next day, then I get beaten. I am so bruised and sore that I am not getting everything done in time at all. I have tried to escape many times, but because the Alpha is my father, I am drawn back home. I know that I have to reject Alpha George as my Alpha. Then I will be free to live my life as a human in the human world. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I haven't even introduced myself. I am Lana. Daughter of Alpha George and Luna Anna. I have long, wavy blond hair and sky blue eyes. In my family that's not normal because they all have dark hair and hazel eyes. I have fair skin as i am never out in the sun, and I am so skinny that you can see my bones. I have been starved and beaten since I was 5 years old, when I was taught how to clean the pack house and cook meals. I watch helplessly as members find their mates when they turn 18. That will never happen to me. I will always be alone. Alphas, on the other hand, find their mates a week before their birthdays. My brother, Jasper, is an Alpha, so he found his mate, Amy Sulavin, the Betas' daughter, early. I never attended school, so I have no social skills. I don't speak other than Yes, Alpha", "Yes, Luna", "Yes, Beta", "Yes, Sir" and "Yes, Ma'am". I have zero reading and writing skills, and I have no math skills. I only know how to read a recipe. Nothing else. "LANA!!!!!" I heard Alpha George calling me from his office. I was on the first floor ing the kitchen preparing dinner, while he was on the 6th floor. I stopped what I was doing and as quickly as my battered body could go, I took the stairs all the way up. Knocking on the door, i heard "Come in!!!" "Lana, What took you so long?" Alpha George said, knowing full well what took so long. "I don't care. This is important. In 3 days is your 18th birthday. I am going to host Jasper's Alpha Corination that evening, and you are going to work it all night. The Alpha King will be there, so you had best keep your eyes down and no talking!" with my head down i could only say "Yes, Alpha". As i walked out the door, shutting the door behind me, a tear escaped my eye. They have always given me that day off with a proper meal 3 times for the day. The only day i was able to go outside and lay ing the sun. the only day i wasn't beaten by anyone. the only day I could sleep. It's the day before my birthday and that night I finished the last of my chores, cleaning the windows in the sunroom. It was after 11:30p.m when I saw Amy and Jasper near the forest that borders our property. She was already in wolf form. I wished for a wolf and prayed for one. As soon as Jasper changed into his wolf, I felt weird. My head was spinning. I felt dizzy and almost fainted. I caught it, so I could finish quickly and go to bed, so I could rest. When I finished, I went to my room. I shut the door and got in my nightgown to get into my bed. My bed was nothing but a mat on the floor and a thin blanket. I was lucky to have a pillow. I closed my eyes to sleep when there was a bright light in the corner of my room and in seconds I saw a beautiful woman standing there. I fell back and asked in a terrified voice" Who-who are you?" The woman walked out of the light and my eyes widened. "You know who I am, Lana. My Queen!" said the woman with a smile. "I have been waiting for this moment. Only you can see or talk to me. Anytime you need me, I will be there. I have seen what they have done to you all these years. I could not come to you until now. I have been training Kara to use her abilities. At 3 a.m she will be with you, and you will be able to use your abilities right away. The one that will always come first is reading minds. You will be able to read the minds of everyone you know. And everyone you don't. I don't want it to come as a shock to you, so I am telling you that. You are special because you have all the abilities of your father and the magic of your mother." "Moon Goddess, how is this possible?" I said as I got to my knees to worship her. She reached out her hand and I placed mine in hers as she helped me up. "There is no need for you to worship me. I am here to help you reach your full strength. Your father was a wolf with many abilities and your mother was a witch with a great amount of magic. I am here to protect you tonight. You are in danger and your wolf is not yet ready to protect you," she said. In a few minutes, a pure white wolf appeared beside her. "This is Kara. When you wake up tomorrow she will protect you. With my help. You are the last heir to the throne of the Wolf Kingdom and the true ruler. Your parents were murdered by the self-proclaimed king and his brother. The man you call father. Kara is going to help you regain your family honor and the throne. She has been training with me this whole time." "But I have no wolf. How can I be royal? I have no education." I said with confusion. "I have always been with you. We were Cursed at birth by a witch to protect us. The curse was broken when our mate showed his true self tonight." Kara said in a mind link to me. "I will always be there and, since our birthday is coming fast, you will be completely healed when you get up. I do suggest that we reject our mate. After all, he has been abusing us and not protecting us." she stared at the door and said in anger, "Mate and his b***h are coming." A few minutes later she said that she started to growl and snarl. Saliva was dripping from her fangs and she was ready to attack. I quickly turned to face my closed door, ready to defend myself." Will they see you, Moon Goddess?" I asked with my back to her. "Only if I want them to. This pack doesn't deserve that until tomorrow, when you are ready to leave with your mate," she said as she placed her hand on my shoulder. A surge of power ran through me. "I have just given you strength to heal. I will be by your side all night to keep you safe. Right now must happen in order for your true mate to protect you." When she finished, the footsteps got louder, and I could hear the laughter of a man and woman. Suddenly, the door swung open.
