Five- Zara & Wesley

620 Words
Zara: We finish shopping and Xi has to return to her boyfriend while Kelli wants to discuss the party plans with hers. Now officially alone, I make my way back to our flat. Once inside I eat leftover pizza (aka the veggie) and relax on my bed. Normally I would read, but due to the greasy pizza I go with TV. Now being 7 at night, I figure might as well watch Pat on Wheel of Fortune and Alex on Jeopardy.  I make my way over to my bed, set down my pizza and go to my closet to change in my pjs.  By the time I finish Pat is giving the Wheel a final spin as the contests wait nervously to solve. I used to love being alone, it being my comfort zone and safe haven. However, when I am alone I think of him. The guy who's been taking over my dreams and making me wake up restless and confused... almost like I am missing something. Before I notice it, I have zoned out so long Alex is announcing the clue for Final Jeopardy. Soon after my eyelids become heavy and I drift off to him. Wesley, WWI: War continues to rage on these fronts. I am so bloody sick of the deaths and waiting in fear. We are fighting each other like animals just waiting to die. Usually I would say I get out of my family's expectations of me... but now I can't just write it off. I just have to know her... it's these times in the middle of the night she calls to me, for during the day I have to keep the men's spirits high. Luckily, the nights are just for me. And it is at night laying on my dreadfully uncomfortable cot that I dream of her brilliant face and yearn to meet her. It's like in my dreams we have conversations and spend quality time. That's about when Ezra calls me a bloody mad fool in love. Since being enlisted I have written Olli as much as possible as well as my siblings. Especially Victoria, who has to step up greatly in terms of the war efforts along with mum. I still am waiting for their reply, especially one from Olli that never fails to but me in a jolly mood. Just then, I am awaken from my restful slumber as fighting breaks out between the Central Powers and Allies again. —————————————- Hours pass and no one has gained territory or claimed the bodies from No Mans Land yet. Right now as second in command of my squad I am checking in on the wounded. Rumors are flying rampid as many are facing their finals moments. The truly sad thing is, is that some are welcoming death like a friend. I make my way through the busy infirmary to check in our first in command who I remember getting injured on the field, along with third in command Ezra. While I don't know this Jack fellow a whole lot, he is still a good mate of mine, as all of our men are. I reach his cot and see his pale face. Poor Jack is hanging on by a thread, making me nervous for him, and his wife and child back home. Having trouble tearing my eyes away from the chap, the nurse has to clear her throat to fully capture my attention. Then my world stops, my breaths cease as I look at the girl who had been capturing my thoughts since my birthday. Now standing here in a nurse uniform, hair tied back, red lipstick and a clipboard in hand. It was Ellie! She had come and found me! Pure joy washed over me, my hopelessness, fears, worries and helplessness were over because she was with me!
