It was two in the afternoon when Mr Denley Holmes, the owner of the most famous company in the city and country at large, walked into one of the many branches of the Holmes group of companies. He is about sixty years old and a widower. He had lost his wife fifteen years ago in a plane crash when she was returning from the states. As he entered the company, he had a bad omen as he noticed most of his employees staring at the television as there was a broadcast of a fire outbreak in a motel. He only took a short look at the television and saw the fire men, cops and health workers doing their job. So he walked down to his office without listening to what was being said. After the workers noticed him heading for his office, one of them said to Colin Hussain, who was very close to the boss. "Sir, the boss just walked into his office." Hearing this Colin Hussain, a twenty five years old gentleman jumped from his seat, knowing what was expected of him, he hurried to see Mr Denley Holmes in his office. As he knocked on the door, Denley said from inside, "Please come in." Seeing who it was, he smiled and continued, "Ah, son, it's you, please have a seat." "Sorry but I won't be sitting down. Have you seen the news?" "I overheard it when I walked in. What about it?" "They are saying your son was in the scene. And I have been trying his line since then but there has been no response." While he was still talking, Denley used the remote on his desk to tune into the channel. And it was exactly what they were talking about. The reporters were saying that his son's car was seen in the vicinity but he has not been found. Immediately, Denley stood up, "Come with me," he rushed out to company and Colin followed him as requested. In the next few minutes, they both arrived at the accident scene, and they were looking out for those that were being brought out of the burning building. As they saw one whose face was totally burnt beyond recognition, Denley broke the line, and rushed to meet the health personnels that were carrying him into the ambulance. "Sir, please stay back." "That's my son you are with and you are telling me to stay back…" he still pressed further as Colin followed him. As the ambulance zoomed off for the hospital where proper treatment would be carried out, Denley and Colin pursued them down to the hospital. The nurses and doctors were confused because of the way Denley was following them claiming the burnt man was his son, everyone in the city knew his son and the person they were with did not look any way like his son. So the doctor had to calm Denley down by saying to him while some nurses rolled him to the surgery room. "Please sir, allow us to do our job. A DNA test will be conducted afterwards to prove your claim." Denley was still trying to follow them into the emergency unit but it was impossible, Colin held him back, "Sir, let the doctors save him first. You heard him, they would run a test afterwards." Even Colin was having doubts that the person they had followed was the son of Denley but he could not say it to him. He just had to support him in everything because that appears to be the only thing he needed at that moment. After all, blood is thicker than water, they say. So if Denley says it's his son, then it definitely will be. After the doctors and nurses were able to ensure and were confident that the young man would survive, they ran the test as they had promised Denley and truly it was his son but Denley told them not to make it public because Martin Holmes, his son had told him not to do so. Being a very prominent man, he did not like the look of his son nor did Martin like his new look. So Denley made arrangements for him to be taken out of the country to India for plastic surgery. All these were done without the knowledge of the masses despite his popularity and status. It was because Martin did not want people to know that he was alive for the time being. ***** After six months, when he was to return from India to his country, he was looking extremely handsome, even more that he was before the surgery. He still had his blue and pointed nose, at least those were the two things that did not change in his new look. Before now, he had sent a few pictures of his new look to his father and best friend Colin, and they had also come several times to see him over there in India. Colon was sent to welcome him from the airport on his arrival and bring him home. So since he had already seen him in his new look, it was going to be easy to recognize him coming out of the airport but no other person would. As he saw Martin coming out of the airport, he waved at him and they saw each other. But as Martin fixed his eyes on his friend and was no longer watching where he was going so he hit this beautiful damsel. She was like an angel in his sight and he was so captivated by her beauty that he removed his eyes from Colin and fixed them on the damsel. The lady on her part was in a rush, so she did not bother to exchange words with him as she also saw herself to be at fault because of her haste. If she was looking, then they would not have hitted each other, so she apologized. "I'm sorry." "No, I should be the one apologizing," Martin said as he bent down, picked her purse which she dropped and gave it to her. "Thanks. You are such a gentleman." She received the purse from him. He was about to say something else but she was in a hurry and didn't allow him to speak. "I am sorry once again." And off she went. "Hmm…." He stammered as his eyes followed her as she moved away. He was so carried away by her beauty. Colin, who had walked up to him was now calling his name but he seemed not to be paying attention. "Mr Martin. Mr Martin, Mr Martin…" "Yes, yes…." He turned to him as he noticed his name being called. "Are you alright?" "Yes, just that," he was trying to spot the lady who had vanished in the crowd that was at the airport. Colin knew what was in his mind, so he said, "She is gone, bro." But that was not exactly what was in his mind, so he said what he had on his mind, "I did not even just her name." Luckily for him, she was a bit popular too in the country, so Colin said, "That is Alice Dean, the eldest daughter of the late Dean Gill." Hearing the name of the lady, smiles were introduced to his face once again and he said, "Take me to my father." Later that evening, after Colin had returned to his house, leaving Denley and his son alone, Martin said to his father, "Dad, there is something I want to tell you." "Go ahead son." "I think I have found love again." "And how sure are you that it would not end up like the previous ones?" "That is why I am telling you. Since no one recognizes me, I want to maintain a low profile this time. At least for some years until I find true love. Someone that will love me for who I am and not for my wealth." Denley was shocked to hear this from his son. He could not believe that his son would stoop so low just to find true love. But considering all that he had been through in the past because of love, he said, "You have my blessing. I hope this lady is worth it."
