Chapter 3
Maeve laughed so hard when I told her everything that happened today. Honestly I didn't find anything funny right now.
We were already on our third bottle and I felt tipsy but Maeve still looked okay.
“I mean, what were you expecting, Bel?” Maeve asked between her laughter.
“Not that I expected much, but why would he say I should pretend to be in love with him, why can't it be the other way round? Isn't the guy supposed to fall first? Who does he think he is to tell me what to do” I said, taking a sip from my glass.
“He is Jayson Peterson, the youngest billionaire in LA just in case you forgot and also there isn't a rule that says the guy is supposed to fall first” Maeve replied and I rolled my eyes as we both laughed.
I woke up to the sound of my alarm going off, I sat up and felt a slight headache. I reached into my drawer, removed a hangover pill and took one. Looking to my side I laughed at the sight of Maeve sleeping and snoring on the floor with an empty bottle of wine in her hands like she didn't have work today. Climbing down my bed, I noticed my room was in a mess from last night. We were both totally wasted after the last bottle that we didn't even bother cleaning up or showering, we just slept off after singing and dancing till we were tired.
I cleaned my room, skipping the part Maeve was sleeping on. I was surprised she didn't wake up even after all the noise from the vacuum cleaner. I began my work-out then proceeded to take a shower after that. Maeve finally woke up to the sound of my hair dryer as I dried my hair.
“Morning smelling beauty, didn't think you'd wake up this early” I teased.
“What time is it?” She asked as she yawned
“It's 8:25 ma’am, so get yourself off my bedroom floor, go take a shower and get out of my house or else you'd be really late” I said, turning off my dryer and moving to my closet.
“I'm the CEO Bell, I can go in whenever I want” she reminded me, as she walked into the bathroom and I rolled my eyes.
I was done dressing and was checking myself in the mirror when I heard a knock on my door.
“Morning mum”I greeted as I opened the door. She came in and sat on my bed while I went on with what I was doing.
“How did it go yesterday?” She asked with a bright smile on her face. I just hope my mum maintains this smile when I leave.
“It was good mum” I said nonchalantly. I didn't even know the actual word to use in describing it, so I just said good to not make her worry.
“Is he as handsome as the magazines display?” She asked, pressing for a longer conversation.
“Way more handsome” Maeve replied as she walked out of the bathroom.
“You didn't even see him” I said
“Well someone who saw him told me he was over the top handsome” she said looking in my direction.
“I didn't know you slept over, Mae” my mum interrupted, smiling at her. Mum loves Maeve too much that sometimes I get jealous, she treats her like her own and I really appreciate that.
“Well I had to stay over to make sure someone was fine” Maeve replied and I threw my hair brush at her.
“I'll leave you both to do your thing then” mum said as she walked out of the room.
I helped Maeve get dressed and of course she wore my clothes, my shoe, carried my hand bag the only thing on her body that was hers was the make up.
“You are lucky we wear the same size of everything” I said as we walked to our cars
“Duhh, you think God didn't know what he was doing” she asked and we both laughed as we got into our cars and drove off.
I got to the company and everyone was staring at me.
Feeling uncomfortable by the sudden shift of attention, I walked to the restroom to see if I had anything on my face or if my clothes were stained. Reaching the restroom I saw that my face and clothes were okay. Then why the attention?
“Does she really think she and Raymond would last? I mean, all the girls he ever dated always ended up being hurt because of his rudeness” I heard a voice say from the last toilet stall
“I won't be surprised if the whole thing ends in the next 3 months just like it ended with Sofia Miller” the second voice said and they both laughed.
“Come to think of it, everyone thought Sofia Miller and Jayson Peterson were the perfect match for each other but in the end, he still dumped her. He is one apathetic human” the second voice said again with a tsk
“Poor Bella, she must have felt special when he touched her” the first person said again and this time I chuckled and walked out of the restroom.
So that's the reason for the unnecessary stares. I pulled my phone out of my bag and went to the tabloids. That's when I saw the headlines, “Jayson finds a new girl to break”, “ does Bella stand a chance with him?”, “ poor Bella falling into Jayson's nest”, “a leech(Bella) and the money bag(Jayson)”
Seriously!? Putting my phone back into my bag, I walked to the elevator not letting the news or the stares get to me.
I got to my office and my phone chimed. Opening my phone, I saw a message from Maeve and mum.
“Have you seen the news? Girl, you are on every news feed. Haven't married him yet and you are already famous *laughing face emoji” Maeve rarely takes things seriously especially the news. I laughed at her message then opened mum's
“Be strong girl, forget the tabloids, those people don't even know you and most importantly, ignore the stares” exactly how I expected mum's messages to be.
Placing my phone on my table, I took my seat and began my work.
