Marshall
Its been maybe a month since that call from Max and I had this strange feeling in my heart that what hewanted to tell me that day had to do with Celine.
I decided to head back to Over city and find out what was going on that side, maybe I could catch a ghost as well.
My ghost Celine.
I packed my bags.
While packing Lee-Ann entered my room.
We are getting married in a week so this would most likely be my last opportunity to escape.
Things are okay between us and she seems different lately, but I just can't quite put my finger on it so I act my usual self.
"Where are you going...?"
Lee-Ann asked.
I looked at her and than continued my packing.
"Batchelor get away... Don't worry I will be back in time for the wedding... Now leave..."
She didn't say anything and I only turned around when I heard the door close.
This has been her reaction since that day until now.
She doesn't argue or talk back and does whatever I tell her.
No matter how difficult I try making things she just doesn't budge.
Thats why I feel something is different.
But I had no time to deal with this.
So next stop...
Over city.
I entered the airport and grabbed my luggage.
My car I used back before I left was still at my old place so I had Manny bring it to the airport.
I was going to go to the apartment first but I decided to leave the ghost hunting for later after I get some answers.
I was driving up to the club when I passed someone on the road.
In my rear view mirror she looked like the ghost I was chasing.
But when I looked back she was gone.
I shrugged it of and continued to the club.
I parked my car and headed inside.
Everyone was at the bar and as always it was already packed and that at 4 pm.
I greeted a few of my old employees and head to my old office.
Every step I take was like reliving the past memories I had here with Celine.
I wonder just were she was and how she was doing.
When I enter the office I see Max grinning from ear to ear.
He must have a girlfriend.
Mmmm...
Interesting.
Max was known to be the silence type.
He didn't do drugs and didn't mix girls with drugs or alcohol into his personal life.
I watched him a second and than caught his attention.
"Max... How's it going?"
Looking at his expression I see shock writing all over his faces.
"Hey, I'm taking to Jennifer, give me a moment..."
He took the rest of the call in tje bathroom.
He definitely has a girlfriend.
Dam ASSHOLE, didn't even think of telling me.
I waited a few minutes before Max appeared from the bathroom.
"So... What are you doing here... Aren't you getting married in a week?"
He asked and there was something suspicious about his question.
I have known Max all my life and he was definitely hiding something.
"Yeah of course man, just came to do some ghost hunting and other stuff... Why didn't you miss me..."
I see his eyes relax.
Now I am sure he was hiding something.
"That's great, so how long you staying you could have called, I have plans this weekend..."
I just smiled.
"Girlfriend plans...?"
Max laughed.
"You caught me, but no she isn't my girlfriend yet, but maybe in the near future... Who knows...?"
Okay that's why he was so surprised.
He still hasn't landed the fish.
This man.
"I hope so, I don't want to be left all alone in the world of the young and married you know..."
He offers me a drink.
I take a sip as Max sits down and downs his glass.
"So Max... When you called that day... What was so important?"
Max looks a little anxious but gives me a fast reply.
"I wanted your help with this girl but like you can see I managed myself, so if you can excuse me she must be waiting for me..."
Max got up and headed out.
I looked around the office and nothing changed.
I was heading down when Logan caught me by the door.
" Finally, I thought you'd never come back... "
He said I was reading alot into his words and I seem to be reading into everything today...
Why?
I gave his arm a squeeze and than walked out.
Next stop.
The ghost house.
About 7 minutes later I stopped at the old apartment I bought for Celine.
It also looks the same.
I got out and walked to the door.
I didn't unlock it when the door pushed open itself.
Stange...
Its supposed to be locked.
I walked in and immediately knew someone was living here.
There was fresh flowers on the country in the kitchen and the curtains were drawn back.
Dishes were still wet on the drying rack.
I walked out and called no other than Max.
"Heyyyy... You need something...?"
He said as he answered.
"Who is living in Celine apartment...?"
Silence.
"Sorry Marshall, my girl was kicked out her place so I let her stay there until I found her a new apartment, its just for time being.. Please forgive me for not asking you first.. But like I said that was the reason I called that day..."
I took a deep breath.
Don't get angry...
Don't get angry...
I calmed myself down.
" It's fine but get everything out before Sunday or else... "
I didn't want to do this but no one was allowed to come and live here.
This was the last place anyone was allowed to enter.
I shut the door and head to my car.
I decided to call Celine.
I was praying her number was still the same.
" The number you have dialed no longer exists, please redial carefully and try again..."
Shit.
I should have known.
O well then I guess her house was now me new destination.
I started the car and drove into the emptiness, darkness falling into the sky.
Soon my love...
We will be reunited.
I am coming, just wait for me.
I said to myself as I drove into the night.
