One lie, they told.
Never look back - chapter one.
Many people believe in a second chance. It tells that those who grew up with nothing could still have something. But they were all wrong. Once you’ve been labeled by something, you are nothing but a cheap 1-use product.
I don’t know what happened to you, but I do know what happened to me. Two years ago, I was taking a fall trip around the world. I came across a lonely place, and I fell in love. In it were rows of gold harvested from the fields of glory. But the lands it preached still burned with the remains of the war it held before.
Many people believe if you look hard enough, you can see the marks from the past. For many, it’s a place to never look back at. But to me, it was a whole new world I had never seen before. A world I could explore, something that would leave me unharmed. But I was wrong.
The people were right to avoid this place. It’s told that the devil walks the lands that surround the villages. If you don’t fall prey to his command, then you will live with nothing. He is not a murderer, but he is not kind. He holds a terrible secret. This secret has been the burden of our world for years, and I found it out.
The devil lives alone, they say. But the devil is more than one. The words, “the devil lives among us” are not only right, but wrong. He may live among us, but he is us. He lived the life of a newborn child. He grew up and watched the ones around him disappear. He watched as his father murdered those who got close. No matter how much he steps back, the others follow.
You follow in the name of the lord? But the lord never helped the one who asked when he needed it the most. He let his angels fall time and time again. And now he calls revenge on what he started?
The devil keeps a secret. Because he knows the unloving truth that will follow.
Me and the devil have something in common. But yet we are so far apart. He lived until he fell. I didn’t even know I fell until it was too late.
Even after he fell, he stood up and declared war. I never stood up because the war was already called by another. Only two sides can remain in a deadly war. It’s only ever the right or wrong, and I would have been wrong.
I continued to fall until I no longer had a body to fall with. But no matter how hard you try, there is nothing to stop the sudden doom you are deemed to face.
The devil lived among me for years to come. He sat by my side at the table for breakfast. He watched as the world around me lit on fire, but he did not fear. He loved me from afar, and sometimes too close. He was like my brother, but he was nothing more than a faulty star. He let me grow until I was declared a woman. Then he left to transform the next star.
But the one thing he required to have, was a hand to hold as he ruined my heart. He made me realize, the devil is not one. But he is the part of a whole.
