Rohan and Rachel were in a five-star hotel in New York. They had been in love since high school, but Rachel had traveled to Paris without informing Rohan.
"Who was that?" Rachel asked, holding a bottle of champagne in her hand.
"It was my ex-wife," Rohan answered, holding Rachel's waist and smiling.
"She's missing you already," Rachel said mockingly.
"Let's forget about that and focus on our celebration," Rohan tried to change the topic, as he kissed her neck.
Rachel had the body of a model. Her blonde hair suited her oval face perfectly, and her blue eyes made her look like an angel. She wore an orange pair of pants and an orange bra and poured champagne into the glasses on the table.
"Cheers to our unborn child," Rachel said, hitting her glass against Rohan's.
"I can't wait to be a father," Rohan said, holding her fingers and kissing them like she was his queen.
Rachel had been back in New York City for a month now. But Rohan had only waited for his and Sophia's first anniversary to reach before he asked for a divorce.
"When are we going to share the good news with your family? I can't wait to see Rina and Mom's reaction," Rachel asked with a soft smile.
"Very soon, baby," Rohan said.
Meanwhile, Sophia sat on the bed, wondering how long Rachel had been back. When her phone rang, she happily collected it, hoping it was Rohan, but it was Grandma Celeste calling. Her heart started pounding as she picked up the call.
"Hello, Grandma," Sophia said in a cool voice, not wanting Grandma Celeste to detect that something was wrong.
"How are you doing, my child?" Grandma Celeste asked.
"I'm fine, and you?"
"I'm good, my child. I was hoping you and Rohan would come for breakfast tomorrow," Grandma Celeste said.
Sophia didn't know what to say. Rohan was out there having fun with his ex-girlfriend.
"Sophy!" Grandma called, wondering why she wasn't talking anymore.
"I will come, Grandma."
"No, I want you and Rohan to come, since we were unable to celebrate your anniversary," Grandma said.
"Grandma, I'm a little bit busy. You can call Rohan and tell him what tomorrow is about," Sophia said, not wanting to call Rohan again.
"Isn't he there with you?" Grandma asked, sensing that something was wrong.
"He went out with a jolt, but he will soon be back," Sophia lied.
"By this time?" Grandma asked.
"No, he left... minutes ago," Sophia lied again, in a shaking voice.
"Alright, dear, take care of yourself and Rohan. Can't wait to see you guys tomorrow," Grandma ended the call.
Sophia gave a sign of relief, kept her phone, and entered the bathroom.
Meanwhile, Rachel and Rohan were celebrating when his phone rang.
"Who is it again?" Rachel yelled angrily.
Rohan picked up the call.
"Good evening, Grandma," he greeted.
"How are you doing, my son?" Grandma asked.
"I'm fine," Rohan answered, still angry at Grandma for distracting their celebration.
"I would love you and Sophia to come over for breakfast tomorrow."
"Okay, ma," Rohan said with no sound of happiness in his voice.
Rachel collected the phone from his ear and ended the call.
"Who was that?" Rachel asked, handing Rohan his phone.
"Grandma wants me and Sophia to come for breakfast tomorrow," he said, collecting his phone from Rachel.
"That's good news. We can tell them about my pregnancy too," Rachel said excitedly.
"Such a brilliant idea," Rohan said, kissing Rachel on the forehead.
"I love you, baby," Rachel said with a soft smile.
"I love you more, my angel," Rohan said, moving his lips down to hers.
He started kissing her.
It was 8 am the next morning. Sophia was already dressed for breakfast at the Davis's mansion. She tried as much as she could to stop thinking about Rohan after what she heard last night.
Sophia booked a cab and headed to the mansion.
"Good morning, Grandma," Sophia greeted immediately she entered the sitting room.
"Good morning, Mrs. Davis, Good morning, Rina," They both snubbed her, acting like no one was talking.
"My daughter, how are you doing? And where is Rohan?" Grandma asked.
"I'm fine, ma. Rohan is on his way."
After five minutes, Mr. Davis came downstairs to join them.
"Oh, I missed this mansion so much," a voice said as it approached the door.
Everyone brought their heads up, focusing on the direction the voice came from.
"Rachel," Rina yelled, running towards her to hug her.
Mrs. Davis immediately stood up in shock.
"When did you return?" Rohan's mom asked.
"About a month ago," Rachel answered.
"About a month ago," Sophia said under her breath. Her heart was racing, her breathing became shallow, and she clenched her fist.
Surprise that Rachel had been around all this time.
"Why did you bring a stranger to a family breakfast?" Mr. Davis asked, and everybody became quiet immediately.
"Dad, Rachel is not a stranger; she is my girlfriend," Rohan said with a soft smile on his face.
Everyone immediately turned and looked at Sophia, whose head was facing the ground.
"Why disrespect your wife?"
"Point of correction, ex-wife," Rohan said.
Mr. Davis turned to Sophia's direction.
"Yes, it's true. We are divorced," Sophia said in a soft tone.
Rina and her mother smiled immediately they heard the news.
"Finally," Mrs. Davis said, raising her two hands.
"You and your so-called girlfriend should leave this house," Mr. Davis pointed at the glass door.
"Rachel is now part of us because she is carrying my unborn child," Rohan said, holding Rachel's hand boldly.
Those words were like a dagger piercing Sophia's heart.
"I will be an aunt soon," Rina said happily.
"I will finally be a grandmother," Mrs. Davis added.
Sophia immediately ran out of the house. She ran till she got to the main round and booked a cab.
Mr. Davis and Grandma Celeste were shocked. While Rina and Mrs. Davis's happiness knew no bounds.
Rohan didn't bother to stop Sophia; neither did he call her.
After the incident, Sophia moved out of Rohan's house. She went to her best friend's house.
Emily happily welcomed Sophia home. She already knew what had happened because Rachel had already posted it on social media. She took care of Sophia for two weeks.
Sophia was having a headache, fever, nausea, and loss of appetite. She and Emily decided to go see a doctor.
They got to the hospital; Sophia went to the doctor, and they ran a test on her.
As they waited for the result to come out, hoping that it was because of the divorce and the trauma Sophia went through...
The doctor came out smiling and looking at them.
"What does the result say?" Sophia asked nervously.
"Congratulations, Miss Sophia. You are pregnant."
