The Wedding

Laughter echoed. Cheering of glasses, and the discussion of the guests was all over the room. Rohan stood at the altar. With his white suit, black curly hair, and his corporate shoes, which made him look irresistible. His best friend, Jolt, was by his side. Lots of celebrities were present, to witness the wedding ceremony. His billionaire friends were also present. Mr. Davis walked Sophia to the aisle slowly, with her white, straight, handless wedding gown, and a long white cape at the back. Sophia's wedding gown made her look like an angel. Her black curly hair, and her white heels were admirable. It made her look more beautiful than she has ever been. Her best friend, Emily, was behind her, walking her down to the aisle. Sophia got to the aisle, and the pastor began the ceremony. Rohan tried to wear a happy face, but Sophia could tell that his heart ached from inside. He has always taken Sophia as a sister; she was like his blood to him. Mrs. Davis clenched her fist, as she watched Rohan and Sophia get married. On the other hand, Rina, Rohan's younger sister, who flew all the way from Paris, just to make sure she makes Sophia regret accepting to get married to Rohan. They had made their vows, then the priest said, "With the power bestowed upon me, I proclaim you. Husband and wife." Sophia's chest fluttered, and she gave a soft smile. She has always had an eye for Rohan, ever since they were kids. Emily smiled upon hearing it. And the guest gave applause. The happiness on Rohan's father's face knew no bounds. The wedding was beautiful, but Rohan's mind wasn't in it. The ceremony ended, and it was now time for the reception. When Sophia was changing, Rina came into the room. "I hope that you are happy. Now that you are successfully becoming part of our family," Rina said, giving Sophia a daring look. "Good day, Rina," Sophia replied, trying to avoid drama. "You witch. I will make your life a living hell. Just watch and see," she held Sophia's hair, dragging it with all her strength. "Stop that!" Emily yelled, pulling her hands out of Sophia's hair. "Take your filthy hands off me. You b***h!" Rina yelled at Emily. The noise coming out from the changing room drew Mrs. Davis' attention, who was almost close to the door. She quickly ran into the room. "Both of you should stop hitting my daughter," she yelled, moving closer and pulling Emily from Rina. "She started it," Emily explained. "Shut up!" she interrupted. "You just became a daughter-in-law, and you are already showing yourself," she continued, pointing her right hand at Sophia. "No, Mom—" Sophia cried. "Who is Mom?" Mrs. Davis and Rina asked simultaneously. They pushed Sophia towards the doors, which made her fall on the ground. "You guys are so wicked!" Emily yelled, walking quickly towards her friend to help her up. Mrs. Davis and Rina walked past them, pushing Sophia's legs with their shoes as they went out of the room. Sophia froze at the door. Tears blurred her vision before she could even breathe. "It's okay, Sophy. All this disrespect will end now that you will be living with your husband," Emily said, wiping the tears falling out of Sophia's eyes with her hands. "What have I done wrong?" Sophia cried out. "It's okay. You need to change up," Emily helped Sophia get up, she wiped her tears. Her makeup was already ruined by the tears she shed because of her mother-in-law and sister-in-law. Emily helped Sophia dress up. Meanwhile, the red carpet was going on; everybody was being interviewed and pictures taken of them. After ten minutes, Sophia was done. She walked down to the reception looking gorgeous in her pink gown and pink heels, which made her look stunning. As she and Emily walked to the reception, the guests' eyes followed their direction. Reporters ran towards her, asking different questions. "How long have you and Mr. Rohan been dating?" one asked. "You look beautiful," another said. As Sophia walked past the red carpet, she felt like a star. The attention was overwhelming, and the compliments were nice. Sophia has always been an introvert; she hardly comes out. She was always at home, doing chores. She doesn't post herself on social media, and she always dresses decently. Rina, Rohan's sister, always refers to her as boring. "But seriously, you are a little bit boring," Emily always teased her most time. When Rohan came out of nowhere and held her hand, it caused a spark of reaction. Sophia was lost for words, her chest fluttered, and she gave a soft smile. Everything would have been better if it were real. After a few hours, the wedding was over, and everyone had gone to their various houses. Sophia and Rohan were going to court the next day to finalize everything. They were going to spend their wedding night in a hotel room, because of appearance sake. Rohan's driver drove them to the hotel. They were inside their room when Rohan called. "Sophia," he called, removing his suit jacket. "Yes," Sophia answered naively, pulling off her shoes from her legs. "Sorry for making you go through all this stress," he said in a soft tone. "It's alright, anything for Dad," Sophia answered in a shaken voice. "I mean you as a sister, and that's all," Rohan said. "Okay," Sophia replied. It felt like Sophia's hope just got crushed by those words. "What about you? What do you take me for?" Rohan asked, staring at Sophia this time. "I take you as a brother, that's all," Sophia answered, faking a smile. Rohan gave a warm smile as he entered the bathroom. She smiled as he left, but her chest ached in a way that a smile couldn't hide. "How do I tell him? I love you more than you can imagine, and I don't see you as a brother," Sophia muttered under her breath as she bites her lips.
