Chapter One: The First One
Ava's POV
My hands won't stop shaking.
I'm scared, scared to my bones.
Across from me sits a man whose name alone can change many things in New York city.
His suit cost more than my yearly salary.
“Are you scared” he asked.
Scared was an understatement for what I was feeling, for someone who had blood on her hands, scared wasn't the word to use.
Just One month ago, I was a normal girl.
A normal orphan who worked for the Coles as a P.A.
But now I sat across one of the most dangerous man in the entire country.
One month ago I could hardly kill a fly and not feel guilty about it.
But now I had blood on my hands.
I was a normal orphan who lived and enjoyed her quiet life.
No family.
No friends.
No chaos.
Drama free.
Until my boss's son called me, I wish I never went that day.
He called me to his house with the excuse of collecting an important file that needed my review before the next morning, and I stupidly went.
Even after he specifically told me to come through the back door.
It took me twenty minutes to get there, from our HQ at Hudson park, since he lived on the upper east side, at one of the doorman buildings.
When I came to the house it was completely quiet, like no else was around.
I felt uneasy and suspicious, but I brushed it off and went into his room.
At first there was no one, not even Ethan was in the room. Then he emerged, with a menacing smirk on his face.
Then he tried to do the one thing I never thought a Cole was capable of.
I've worked for the Coles for a year now.
And not just me but the entire country was saying it.
The Cole's were one of the most decent families in the country now. Both my Boss, Victor Cole and his only Son, Ethan, were highly respected everywhere not just for their wealth but because of their morals.
But everything was shattered the moment,
Ethan tried to force himself on me.
“Ethan please, please don't do this” I cried and fought.
But he just laughed like I made one of the silliest joke. I tried screaming, maybe someone would hear my screams and come to my rescue.
But no one came, no one was there except for both of us.
Which means I have to find a way out myself.
I bit him and tried to run, but he pinned me down again.
And Hit me on my face.
Tore my shirt, I was left with just my bra now.
My lips were bleeding.
My Body already felt too heavy.
But I couldn't let him have his way with me.
I reached for the vase on the table beside me and brought it down to his head.
Not once, but three times.
He collapsed on top of me, I thought he just lost consciousness, but then I felt it.
A warm liquid fell to my chest from his head, when I touched it, it was blood.
Ethan was bleeding.
I pushed him off, and he hit the ground, but he didn't wake up.
And that's when I realised.
I just killed Ethan Cole.
The son of one of the richest men in the entire NYC.
I was scared of what just happened.
And I felt guilty for killing a man.
But more than that I felt terrified of getting caught. I'd never had to cover up anything in my life, but I knew what needed to be done. Before leaving I made sure to clean the room, I wiped most of the things that had my fingerprints on it, and also cleaned Ethan.
I deleted the message he sent to me earlier.
Right now I couldn't afford getting caught.
And I did the one thing my own body wanted most.
I ran.
Even though I was looking messed up.
I carefully took out one of Ethan's shirt and wore it.
And I Ran away from the man I just killed,
Ran away from the crime scene.
I left through the back door, and there was still no one in the house.
I knew this wasn't the end.
When I got home.
I burned the shirt I took from Ethan, then,
I showered — scrubbed my body raw, wishing it would all wash away.
Wishing I'd wake up and find it had been a bad dream.
In twenty-four years, I'd never wished for anything. All I'd ever wanted was to keep living my peaceful life. But after tonight, I had a new one.
Fear and guilt ate at me, and in that moment, I let it all out.
All my life, I thought I was strong, but I guess I was wrong.
What happened that night was bigger than me, and I wasn't ready to face the consequences — even though it had been self-defense.
It was only the beginning.
Now I would just have to find out
What would go wrong after I killed him?
I continued my normal work routine, even though I had nothing to do after Ethan's body was found.
Mr Cole was busy with the investigation of his son's murder.
He vowed to find his son's killer.
Mrs Cole wasn't helping either, seeing her cry everyday on the news, only made my guilt worsen
I haven't been the same.
I lacked good sleep, and the proof was my eyes.
Things went back to normal.
A little.
Because everyone was talking about it.
The murder.
They wouldn't believe, if I said, he tried to r**e me.
I thought I had some time to think about my next move.
It was Saturday so I was home.
But my hope got shattered the moment I turned on my TV.
It was Ethan's maid, Maya Alvarez.
She was on the news with the police and Said she was there during the murder.
There was a witness.
Or maybe this was a set up.
Oh No!
