CHAPTER 02- AFTERMATH

GABRIEL

I jumped out of bed and noticed the heat in my body, I could feel my claw getting longer and my fangs against my lower lip… I looked around but couldn't see anything. Then I heard Maria screaming and I quickly ran into her room. She was nowhere in sight and then I heard things falling from her bathroom. I opened the door and saw her in pajamas and kind of looking like a clown.

-WHAT 'S WRONG?

She looked at me with tears in her eyes.

-At night I left my phone so a makeup video would download and it’s still incomplete and I can’t log into the wifi!

-What?

-Don’t look at me like that! I need the videos to complete my makeup!

-Well I can see that but the screams…

-I look like a clown Gabe!

“I think she was as scared of her reflection as we were Gabe, let’s just go back to our room.” Maria was still speaking, but I was no longer interested and turned around and walked out of there. I arrived in the room to see Sam hanging on the window. I ran and lifted him up so he was back in the room.

-WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING WITH YOU PEOPLE!

-I was about to discover if I won the bet, but my phone wis not getting a signal at all!

-And hanging like a monkey on the window was going to help?

-I don’t know… It could, I had to try it first…

-Try what? To fall and die?

-You know I wouldn’t die from this distance… and maybe the walls were getting in the way of the signal.

-You… you are so dumb.

I went and lay on the bed while Sam just rolled his eyes at me and kept moving his phone around. I took mine and sent a message to Lucas, he had to know about my crazy morning. I closed my eyes for a bit. I knew he was also awake and he always responded to my text fast… I opened my eyes and I was alone in my room. I took my phone and it was already past 10 AM! I jumped out of bed and grabbed some sports clothes and ran onto the training field while changing and, of course, Eva had to appear when I was without a shirt.

-You know, I like the sight but I don’t like other females to see you, so please dress properly.

I felt a chill running through my feet and it ended on the top of my head. She winked at me and left the room. Why didn’t Lucas call? This is all his fault! I went to the training field and, of course, dad had special training waiting for me. I did all the training and I’m not lying when I felt like dying… I saw Sam and Maria not entering the house and moving their phones around. I took mine and took a video of them. I went into the conversation with Lucas and noticed that my morning messages hadn't been sent. I checked my phone, restarted it, and turned the signal on and off, but nothing was coming or going through my phone. I saw Sam walking towards me and took a seat.

-So your phone isn’t working?

He said with a twisted smile on his face.

-Well, I’m not climbing into the windows like a monkey.

He rolled his eyes and lay on the ground. Maria also came walking towards us, then she stopped and looked at me.

-Take your shirt off…

She said in a low… really low voice.

-What?

-Don’t speak loudly, please…

-You know he is your brother and what you are saying is really strange, right?

Sam said with a mocking tone.

-But if you are too desperate, I will take my shirt off for you…

Sam was taking his shirt off.

-Stop Sam!

Then she looked back for a bit.

-I don’t want to see you or Gabe without a shirt… But I have a plan… please Gabe.

-Looks like you don’t have another choice, Brother.

Sam was still lying on the ground but he had his eyes on me and a stupid smile on his face.

-Hurry Gabe… We have all seen you without a shirt.

I took it off and Maria smiled.

-Great now go and lean on that tree with a small smile.

-You are crazy, I’m not doing that at all.

-If you don’t, I will ask mom to let me cook for you for a month…

“Go Gabe, please! I would rather starve to death than eat Maria’s food!” Zeus was right and I just obeyed Maria, I felt like an object… I wasn’t sure why I was doing this but I really didn’t want Maria’s cooking. I leaned on the tree and at that moment I heard a flash, Maria jumped onto a bush and then I saw Eva running. She had hidden in that bush.

-Why is the wifi working on your phone?

Maria said as she stole Eva´s phone. Eva was trying to take the phone from Maria and Maria threw the phone at Sam.

-She is right! We thought the signal and the wifi weren’t working.

-Please give me my phone back!

-Gabe!

Sam threw me the phone and as a screen picture, she had a picture of me sleeping!

-How did you take this picture? When did you take this picture?

She turned red and looked down at the ground.

-Why are you not answering me?

Sam came and took the phone from my hand.

-Let’s focus on the wifi and signal rather than your purple pajamas…

-You didn’t see the picture? How did you know the color of my pajamas?

He swallowed and looked at me.

-I had seen your pajamas before?

I took a step closer to him.

-That’s the only reason I knew the color… But you are right, I shall delete this picture…

-It is not fair Sam! I paid you for that picture!

Eva screamed.

-I KNEW IT! YOU TOOK THE PICTURE! AND SOLD IT!

-I was not going to give it for free!

-So how much money did you make?

-For that picture… like two hundred…

-YOU PAID TWO HUNDRED FOR MY PICTURE?

I looked at Eva. I knew she was obsessed with me… but two hundred for a picture…

-NO I JUST PAID TEN DOLLARS!

Eva screamed at me. I looked at Sam… I was confused.

-Well it’s not like I only sold the picture to Eva.

-WHAT?

I stopped when I noticed what he meant and I screamed and Eva also screamed with me.

-You sold Gabe’s picture to other girls!

-There is a vast market out there for his pictures and stuff, so don't take it personally, Eva.

-It’s personal! He is going to be my mate and you are selling his things to other girls!

-That is just your assumption, Eva! And it’s personal for me. I’m the victim here Sam! So stop taking my stuff and pictures! You will regret it if I know you continue doing it!

-So no new ones.. what about your nude baby pictures? Those are old ones. Could I sell those?

He showed me his phone and there I was like a baby in the tub! I tried to smash his phone but he was faster than me and hid it in his pockets.

-BURN YOUR PHONE!

-YES BURN IT! But how much for that picture?

-EVA!

As I said her name she went red and looked at me with sparkly eyes.

-STOP! ALL OF YOU! SAM, YOU SHOULDN'T STEAL STUFF FROM GABE! GABE, SAM PROBABLY HAD HIS REASONS. BUT WHY DON'T OUR PHONES HAVE A SIGNAL?

As Maria spoke, I saw Eva taking some steps back. “She knows something, Gabe!” Zeus was right, she wouldn’t walk away from me… I took her hand and pulled her close to me.

-Where are you going?

-I…

-You do want to spend time with me… Right?

-I DO, I DO!

I smiled.

-So tell me, Eva, why are our phones not working…

-I don’t know…

She lowered her head. I used my hand, carefully pushed her head up, and looked directly into her eyes.

-If you help me I promise to take you and Elliot for some ice cream.

Her eyes were sparkling more than ever.

-You promise?

-Yes.

-Your mom sent us a message last night telling us that the wifi password was changing and then she sent us a new one.

Maria looked surprised.

-Okay guys, that explains why we don’t have wifi, but signal?

As Maria was speaking I noticed the branches of the trees moving and cracking. “That’s not a natural sound!” Zeus was alert, and I saw Maria and Sam also looking up. Eva took the phone from Sam’s hands and ran into the packhouse.
