Chapter fourteen

~~Nash’s P.O.V~~

  After I saw the book I decided to ask her a few questions and after she answered them I left. I walked straight to my dad's office, knowing that he was still in there because he was always there until late, but he always found time for my mom and us. The door was open slightly, so I walked in and plopped myself down on the seat in front of his desk, waiting for my dad to get done on the phone. I waited for a few minutes and then my dad hung up and looked at me.

  “What's wrong, son? You don't come in here this late unless you have something playing on your mind.” My dad asked and he was right.

  “Dad, I went to check on Star after the mall because she seemed a bit jittery and I could smell how scared she was, but she said she was okay and that she just felt like someone was watching her. What do you think? Could it have been a rogue or her father?” I asked, hoping it was a rogue because then I could just kill it and keep her safe, but if it was her father then there was nothing I could do about him yet.

  “It could be a rogue, they go there often, but I think that if it was her father then he would have done something. She is probably more aware of dangers around her now because of what he did. We will just have to keep an extra careful watch over her.” My dad replied and I nodded. My dad and I sat there in silence and he kept staring at me as if he was waiting for me to say something else.

  “Now are you going to tell me what else is on your mind or are you going to sit there and look at the edge of my desk like it's the best thing you have ever seen?” My dad asked and I knew I couldn't hide anything from him.

  “When I was in Star’s room checking on her, I saw this book lying on her nightstand. She has been reading a book about us, about werebears, werewolves, werecats and all the rest. I asked her about it and she seemed fascinated by us, saying that she would love to meet one. I’m thinking about telling her, but I’m not sure if she will stay after that or if it will freak her out. I really like her, like a lot and I’m thinking it's love. I know that it's once in a lifetime that we will have a human for a mate and we have to be careful, but I hate keeping secrets from her, especially something as big as this. What do you think I should do?” I asked, explaining everything to him. My dad was silent for a few moments, thinking and rubbing his hands together.

  “Well son, you know the story about your mother and how we met. She was just like Star, she was beaten pretty bad when I found her, but I instantly recognised her as my mate. I saved her and brought her here, but she didn't believe me for the longest time and even thought that I was putting something into her drinks to make her see things. She was pretty scared and it took some time, but once she realised that I wasn't going to hurt her, she knew that all of this was for real. Years went past and then the war happened, they almost killed your mother, so I had no choice but to change her. I wouldn't and couldn't live without her, you see, when we find our mate it's like we are finally complete. The Moon Goddess splits us in half and when we find our mates we become one, we become complete. Mates are for life, not just a week or a month, it's for life, so if you're sure that Star is your mate you need to be careful with her. You need to keep her safe and maybe in a few weeks or a few months, guide and ease her into it. You need to talk to her about these things and when you feel like you can tell her, then tell her.” My dad replied and I nodded.

  “I see you're telling him our story. Son, just follow your heart and your fathers advice. Everything will be okay, I promise. Yeah I agree with what your father said, I was scared at first and I thought he was spiking my drinks, but it turned out to be wonderful.” My mom said, scaring the s**t out of me at first because I hadn't realised that she had walked into the room, until she spoke. What my mom and dad told me made sense and it really helped.

  “Thanks mom, thanks dad, I really needed this. I’ve been wanting to tell her since I first met her, but I think I’ll wait a bit longer to tell her. I need to head up and get some sleep, I have school tomorrow. Goodnight.” I said, hugging them both and leaving to go to my room. All I wanted to do was sleep, but when I got to my room I smelled a scent and I knew that it was Piper. I walked into my room and she was lying naked on my bed. If I didn't have a mate I would be all over her, but I have Star now and Piper is nothing compared to her. Star was my one true mate and I knew that if I ever did anything against her it would hurt her and I couldn't stand that, plus betraying your mate is punishable by death.

  “Piper, what are you doing here? You need to get out now.” I said and watched as she got off the bed. She had dark hair, brown eyes and pouty lips, she was once something I found attractive, but now she just disgusted me.

  “Oh come on Nash, it's been a while for us and I don't have a mate yet. Yours is human and well, you could kill her, Nash. if you mated with her she would never know about us. Come on, she won’t know.” Piper replied and I shook my head no. Piper walked seductively to me and flipped her hair back. She was close enough to kiss me and when she tried I gently pushed her away.

  “Piper, leave now or I’ll throw you ass out of my room without your clothes. You know what the punishment is for being unfaithful. I’m not ready to die, are you?” I asked and she sighed, turning around to put her clothes back on.

  “Fine, have it your way, but if you don't tell her about us, I will.” Piper replied and I rolled my eyes.

  “Piper, there never was an us, we used each other and you know it. You go around saying things you shouldn't and you will get your head smashed in. now leave my f*****g room. Now!” I said, opening my door and watching as she stormed out, huffing. Why can't she understand that I found my mate and I’m happy now? This just goes to show what she is really like and it's disgusting.

~~Piper’s P.O.V~~

  What the hell? I should be the next Luna, not some human nobody. I was so close to having him mark me and then that b***h came along. How dare he pick her over me, I’m way more prettier and sexier than she will ever be. Why does he want a broken human when he could have me.

  “AGH!!” I screamed out, as I was walking by a room, when the door suddenly flung open and there stood Blake.

  “Who the hell was screaming at this time of night?” Blake said, looking up and down the hall and then his eyes locked onto mine. We stood there looking into each other's eyes and Blake seemed to calm down. I looked into his beautiful hazel eyes and although I had seen him around I had never been this close to him, at least not since I first shifted.

  “MINE!” Blake said, grabbing me by the waist and looking into my eyes. My heart was racing, but I had never felt safer and I smiled at him.

  “MINE!” I said, wrapping my arms around his neck. If Nash wants that weak human then go for it, I have my mate right here, I thought to myself. Blake picked me up and carried me into his room, kicking the door shut behind him. Finally I have a mate and he was perfect.
