~~Nash’s P.O.V~~
Waking up to the bright sunlight beaming in through the window was a little hard this morning, we didn't get home until four in the morning, but today was important and I wanted to take Star somewhere. I knew it was time to show her where her brother was, but would she believe that it was really him? He already knew about her and he knew what she went through to get here. He's been waiting to see her, but we managed to hold him back because we knew that everything she had been through was a lot to take in and finding out her brother was actually alive might just blow her mind. I carefully got out of bed and went to the bathroom, brushed my teeth and hair, then quietly left the room to go to my dad's office. The door was partially open and my dad was already awake, checking his emails and making calls.
“Hey dad, can I come in?” I asked and waited for a few seconds before I heard my dad say yes. I sat down and waited for my dad to finish talking on the phone and once he had he looked at me, but he knew by the look on my face that there was something wrong.
“What is it, son?” My dad asked and I took a deep breath.
“I think it's time, dad. Star needs to see her brother, he's been here several times already and we don't want any wars. We can't keep him from her, but I have no idea how to tell her. I mean how do I even begin to tell her that the brother she thought was dead is actually alive and he couldn't come back to save you, so you had to go through all that pain and suffering with your dad on your own?” I asked and my dad hummed, knowing exactly what I was talking about.
“Well son, I don't think there really is an easy way to tell her this, but I definitely wouldn't tell her that.” My dad replied, making me roll my eyes.
“Obviously, but how do I tell her? How do I even start this conversation with her? This is going to be such a shock for her and I don't want her to freak out or lose control of her bear.” I asked and my dad looked like he was deep in thought.
“Yes, you're right, after all she is a new bear and does not have the control that we do yet. This is something that we can only play by ear and just keep an eye on her. There is no easy way to tell her this and all we can do is be there for her, make sure she is okay and stop her from losing control.” My dad said and I knew he was right.
“Alright, let's call his Alpha. He can even bring his mate here as well, maybe that will make him more comfortable.” My dad said and I nodded. This was going to be one hell of a long day and I had no idea how it was going to turn out. My dad dialled the Alpha of the Green Moon Packs number and waited for him to answer the phone.
“Hello Alpha National, I’m calling about Luke. I think it's time for him to come and see Star, he can bring his mate as well if he wants to and if it will make him feel more at ease.” My dad said, talking on the phone. I had no idea what Alpha National was saying on the other end of the phone, but I know that it was brief because it didn't take long for the conversation to finish and my father to put the phone down.
“Alpha National will make the arrangements for Star’s brother, his mate and a few others to come here. They will be here in five hours, so we need to get ready for this and we need to prepare Star for everything that is to come.” My dad said and I nodded before smelling her scent.
“Oh s**t….” I whispered and my dad looked at me confused. There was a knock, then the door opened and Star stood there, she had been listening to what we were saying, but I had no idea how much she had heard of our conversation.
“So, what do you need to prepare me for. Go ahead, there's nothing you can tell me that will surprise me.” Star asked, crossing her arms over her chest, making my dad and I both sighed. I got up from my seat and walked over to her, gently taking her by the hand and sitting her down on the couch. I kneeled in front of her and I knew that this was something I couldn't beat around the bush with, so I decided to just tell her straight out.
“Star, your br….your brother is alive.” I said and waited for her reaction, but she just sat there frozen to the spot and didn't say anything, so I decided to continue.
“And he will be here in five ours. I know you have a lot of questions, but they are questions that we don't have the answers for, so when he gets here he will have to answer them or his mate will.” I said and her eyes widened.
“Mate? He has a mate? Is he a werebear as well?” Star asked and I shook my head.
“No, he's not a werebear, he's a werewolf and yes, he has a mate. I’m not sure if he's always been a werewolf or if he has been changed, but I do know that he has been here a few times wanting to see you. Everytime he came here he would back out, he was scared, he's still scared that you might not want to see him.” I said and waited for her to say or do something, but she still remained silent and frozen to the spot.
“I know that this is a lot to take in right now, but what do you think? Do you want to see your brother? Because he's on his way here right now.” I said. Looking at her as she just stared off into space. There were no signs of her losing control or freaking out, but I think I would have preferred that because I had no idea what was going on in her mind at the moment.
~~Star’s P.O.V~~
When I woke up this morning Nash was nowhere in the room. I knew I needed to rest today without training, especially as last night I went out and even though I never got drunk before it was a hell of a lot of fun. I got out of bed and my head started to pound, making me feel a little bit sick. So this is what a hangover feels like, it's not as fun as the drinking part, but I know to take some painkillers to dull the ache at least. I went into the bathroom, took two painkillers and brushed my teeth, before going back into the bedroom and getting dressed. I felt my stomach rumble and went downstairs heading to the kitchen to find something to eat. I was nearly there when I heard my name being mentioned, so I stopped and stood outside Leo’s office, where I heard Leo and Nash talking about me. I hate secrets, so I decided to make my presence known and decided to ask what was going on. Nash sat me down and began to tell me about my brother and how he was still alive, that he would be here in five hours with his mate and oh yeah hes a f*****g werewolf. I know I said at the beginning that nothing would surprise me, but I was so, so wrong. I didn't think I had heard Nash right when he said my brother was a werewolf, but I kept listening and took a deep breath. How the hell? What the hell? I have no idea what to think or say about any of this. It took me a few moments to let everything sink in and I knew that Nash was waiting for me to say something.
“Yeah….I….I would like to see my brother. I want to ask him why he left me with that asshole. Many times he could have killed me. Was he always a werewolf and if he was why didn't he just change me and take me with him. NO! INSTEAD HE LEFT ME THERE TO GET BEATEN DAY AFTER DAY!!” I said, shouting the last part as my anger rose up inside me. Nash pulled me close and held me, trying to calm me down.
“I’m sorry, love. I don't think he had a choice in the matter, Star. I know a lot of things happened over the years, but just give him the chance to explain everything to you.” Nash said and I slowly nodded.
“Fine, but it had better be good. He had better have the answers I need.” I said and Nash nodded, kissing my forehead. I sighed knowing that I only had five hours to prepare for his arrival and I needed to figure out exactly what questions I wanted to ask him. There must have been over a hundred questions rushing round my head and I needed time to sort them all out.
“Well, I better get prepared then, like you said. Seeing as they are in a way a visiting pack, how about we do dinner for them? We could cook chicken on the grill, bake some potatoes and corn on the cob. How does that sound? It might make all of us feel a little less uncomfortable.” I asked, trying to put a brave face on and they both slowly nodded. I think they were scared about how I was going to react.
“Alright then, well, erm, let's get things started then.” Leo said and his eyes glazed over, mind-linking someone, then his eyes returned back to normal.
“I have mind-linked the Omega’s and asked them to get everything ready while you two are at the store getting everything else we need.” Leo said and I nodded. Nash and I left the office and hurried to the store. We went from aisle to aisle, getting what we needed, paid for it all and then left to go back home. I started cooking as soon as we got back home and unpacked everything, it was taking forever to get everything cooked, plus all the time we were at the store. The food was nearly ready, but I kept looking at the clock and my stomach almost did a backflip when I saw that they would be here in about an hour. I hurried upstairs to take a quick shower and got dressed in my ripped jeans and purple dress shirt, I pulled my hair into a ponytail and slid into my sandals before walking back downstairs. I went back outside and flipped the chicken on the grill, when everything suddenly went quiet. There was no sound anywhere, everything was silent. The guards came forward with eight people, four males and four females. I thought there were only eight there, when two more came out of the woods and as soon as I saw them I knew who it was. All kinds of emotions were going through my head, making me feel a bit sick and dizzy, but then I felt Nash standing next to me and my nerves calmed down a little.
“Are you ready?” Nash asked and I sighed, nodding.
“Come on, he's been waiting for this moment for a long time. He's been wanting to see you and is probably just as nervous as you are.” Nash whispered, taking my hand and leading me towards the edge of the woods.
