Chapter 35 meeting with my brother

~~Luke’s (Star’s brother) P.O.V~~   We were almost at the edge of the forest and my heart was beating way too fast, I stood here holding my mate's hand and she could tell that I was nervous because she squeezed my hand tightly, as I watched my sister walking with Nash.   “What happens if she hates me?” I asked my mate Sonya, mind-linking her.   “She won't.” Sonya replied, mind-linking me back.   “What happens if she's mad at me?” I asked, still not sure what or how I was going to explain things to her.   “Well, if she is then just calmly explain to her what happened to you.” Sonya replied, trying to calm me, but I still felt butterflies, no bats flying around in my stomach.   “What happens if she wants me to leave?” I asked, preparing for every possible outcome.   “She won't, you need to calm yourself, love. Everything will be fine, it might be a bit rocky for a little while, but just be honest with her. Things will be okay, I promise.” Sonya said and I felt a little more relaxed than what I was. I watched as my sister crossed the training grounds towards us and the closer she got the better I could see her. She looked so beautiful, just like mom was. How the hell did she get away from our bastard father? I had so many questions I wanted to ask her, but I knew that she would have loads too. There were so many questions going through my own head that I can't even imagine how many she must have. My heart started to beat faster with every step that she took and I felt like I was going to throw up. ~~Star’s P.O.V~~   My heart was thumping so fast that I thought it would burst out of my chest, my hands were sweating like mad and I was so nervous. I grabbed Nash’s hand and held it in mine as we walked. I really wanted to talk to Nash, but I didn't want anyone else to hear what I was going to say, so I decided it was best to mind-link him.   “What happens if he hates me?” I asked Nash through the mind-link.   “He won't.” Nash replied.   “What happens if he's mad at me?” I asked, but he gave me a confused look.   “Why would he be mad at you? You haven't done anything wrong.” Nash replied and it made me relax a little, but then I got nervous again.   “What happens if he runs away again and doesn't come back this time?” I asked, fearing the worst.   “Then we will go to his territory and talk to him.” Nash replied, just as we passed the training grounds. This seemed to be the slowest walk ever, it was like we were moving in slow motion as we walked by the blue guards house and up to the edge of the forest. We were standing face to face with my brother and his mate. I took a deep breath and went to speak, but my mouth went completely dry and my mind went totally blank as I stared at the face of my brother. I let go of Nash’s hand and stepped forward as Luke did the same, mimicking my moves. We stood there staring at each other for a few seconds before Luke grabbed me and pulled me into a bone crushing hug. We both started crying and everyone backed away from us, giving us the space we needed. We pulled away from each other and walked for a little bit before deciding to sit on the grass and talking to each other, just like the old days when we were younger. We were talking about random things, making small talk about the weather and school, things like that, but we needed to get down to why we were really here.    “What happened Luke? We heard that you went into the woods and the next thing we knew the sheriff said that they only found your shredded clothes and blood. I was left alone with him and he was horrible. He beat me so bad once that I thought I wasn't going to make it. He tried to sell me as a lady in waiting, but thankfully it was Nash’s mom and she had come to rescue me. After I had cussed dad out and ran out of the house, Nash’s mom caught up to me and explained everything to me. She told me what was going on and now I’m here. I don't want to hate you, I don't want to be mad at you, but I need answers, Luke. please just tell me.” I said and saw Luke take a deep breath. It was now his turn to speak and I knew he was dreading it just as much as I was, but he needed to give me the answers I needed.   “Sis, just listen okay. Don't get up and leave, just wait until I am done. You might not like my story, but please just listen, okay.” Luke said and I nodded.   “Okay.” I replied, hoping I would finally get the answers I needed. Luke took another deep breath and looked down at his hands before clearing his throat.   “I’m sorry, you see I didn't know how dad really was. Mom would leave and dad would say that she was whoring around, but she wasn’t and I knew she wasn't. I would follow her and she would always go to grandma's house for a while and then she would come back, but when grandma passed away she had nowhere else to go, so she stayed. The beatings got even worse and that's when she tried to fight back, but then it just got even worse. The last night that she left, dad followed her and I tried to follow them, but I couldn't keep up with them. I was trying to help her, but it was no use, I just couldn't keep up with them, so I came back home and hoped for the best.” Luke said and I knew exactly what he was talking about.   “I remember that night, you came up to my room and laid on the floor next to my bed.” I said and he looked up at me.   “I thought you were asleep. I was there because I wanted to protect you.” Luke said and I shook my head.   “I woke up when I heard my door open and I knew it was you, you’ve always done that whenever mom ran out on us for a bit.” I said and he nodded.   “Remember when dad finally came home, he was soaking wet and covered in mud?” Luke asked and I nodded.   “Yeah, mom never came back home and we called the cops.” I replied.   “It took a month for the sheriff to come to the house to let us know that they had found mom's car in the river and that the gators had probably eaten her up.” Luke said and he was right.   “yeah, I remember we never had a funeral for her. We never had a funeral for you either, Luke. what happened? Just tell me, please.” I asked, making him sigh.  “Calm sister, I’m about to tell you everything. I figured out what dad did and I confronted him about it. He asked if we could go for a walk and talk about it, so I agreed and we did. We went out to the woods and we talked about everyday things, but when the moment came to talk about mom he tried to change the subject. He would say that she just ran off and he couldn't find her, but I knew in my gut that he had something to do with it. He didn't like that I knew and he turned angry, telling me to shut up and that I was just like my mom. He pulled out a gun and pointed it at me, but I tried to tell him that I wouldn't tell anyone that he could trust me, but he wouldn't believe me. He shot me twice in the chest and I fell on my knees, but when he saw that I was trying to survive, that I was fighting for my life he shot me again. I fell face first and in return he stabbed me in my back, ripping my shirt open and saying that the birds and wolves would finish me off. He left me out there to die, but as you can see I’m not. My mate, well at the time I didn't know she was my mate, well, a woman came and she saved me. Sonya bit my neck after she brought me back to her home. It was the only way to save my life.” Luke said and I was horrified. I knew my dad was evil and he beat me black and blue everyday, he even whipped me, but he never went that far with me. My brother had suffered more than me, but that still didn't explain why he never came back for me. I was put through hell while he was turned into a strong werewolf.
