Nash’s P.O.V
I walked with my dad to his office, wondering what all this was about and when we got inside I sat down while he sat down behind his desk.
“Well son, I’m not going to beat around the bush. I can smell that you and Star have mated, but I hope that you were careful and that your bear Rune didn't take control. You didn't mark her did you? Because she's not ready for that.” My dad said, not wasting any time.
“Yeah dad, I was careful. My eyes turned black, but I don't think she noticed. I did want to mark her and I was so close to doing it, but Rune made sure that I didn't go too far and didn't mark her.” I replied and my dad nodded, sighing in relief.
“Alright then, just be careful, okay. We don't want her to start freaking out.” My dad said and I nodded in agreement.
“How did you manage to do it?” I asked, but my dad looked confused.
“Do what?” My dad asked and I sighed.
“How did you manage to control yourself when you first met mom, knowing that she didn't know about what you are?” I asked and he smiled.
“It was hard, really hard and sometimes I would have to lock myself in my office to stop myself, but you have one thing that I don't. You bear, Rune. You see I was already the Alpha when I found your mother and my bear wanted nothing more than to mate and mark her, but I knew I had to keep control of him. It was hard and he kept pushing to break through, but you aren't Alpha yet, you are the future Alpha and your bear has control. Rune is quite impressive in that respect, but you still need to be careful. The one thing you should be grateful for is the fact that she can't go into heat as a human, otherwise that would really test your bear’s control and I don't think he would be able to. It's hard, but once she knows about us and everything that goes with it, I think it will be a lot easier, you just need to have patience.” My dad replied and he was right, I needed to have patience and pick the right time to tell her.
“I assume you're going to be staying with her tonight, seeing as you have now mated and it's hard to be away from your mate after that.” My dad said and I laughed.
“Yeah I am, dad.” I replied and he shook his head, chuckling at the goofy grin I had on my face.
“Alright then, just be careful. Now get going, you don't want to keep her waiting.” My dad said and I shot out of the chair and through the office door.
Star’s P.O.V
When I got back to my room, I changed into my night clothes and sat on the bed. I took out the book and tried to read a bit before Nash came up, but I just couldn't concentrate on it and placed it back on my nightstand. I don't know why, but my mind kept drifting off to another place. I got off the bed and went to the huge windows, opening them up and looking out as a night breeze came through and cooled me down. Everything was so peaceful and beautiful here, it was like this place was some sort of hidden paradise, where you instantly felt relaxed. I was so grateful that Emma found me and brought me here, even though at the time I was terrified, thinking she was going to w***e me out, I thought to myself as I laughed slightly at the memory. I had been so wrong about her and Nash, all they wanted to do was help me and they did, but it also helped knowing that someone else had gone through the same as what I had, not that I approved of it, but it helped me to trust Emma more. I wrapped my arms around myself, hugging myself as I looked out into the yard and saw many people just walking around, but when I looked towards the woods I saw something weird. There was a bear coming out of the woods, but it wasn't attacking and no one looked scared either, which was really weird. Two more bears came out of the woods and then the strangest thing happened, people were walking over to them with clothes. This confused the hell out of me, so I kept watching and then my eyes went huge as one of the bears started to do something. I closed my eyes, thinking that my mind must be playing tricks on me, maybe it has something to do with the last book I was reading, but when I opened my eyes again there were only two bears standing there.
“What happened to the third bear?” I asked out loud and kept watching. A second bear started to shake and it looked really weird, but then there was a knock on my door that made me jump and look away from them. I quickly closed the windows and shut the curtains before grabbing the remote and jumped on the bed, turning the TV on.
“Come in.” I said and pretended to be channel surfing. It must have been a trick of the light or something, but there was no way in hell I was going to tell anyone they would all think I had gone crazy and I couldn't exactly use the book I had read because it was just a fictional book. No one would ever believe me, hell I didn't believe me and I saw it or I think I did.
Nash’s P.O.V
I walked into Star’s room and I knew right away that something was wrong, but I didn't ask because I knew she would tell me when she was ready. I sat down on the bed and looked at the TV.
“So what are you watching?” I asked and she just shrugged.
“Driving Mrs Daisy, I think. I always loved watching that movie.” Star said, as we settled on the bed and began to watch the movie.
“Nash, hey man, I got something to tell you. I think your girl saw us, she was standing at the window when we came out of the woods. We didn't see her at first, not until Jane started shifting and she hurried to close the windows and curtains.” Kyle said, mind-linking me. No wonder she was acting weird.
“s**t! s**t! s**t! She was being weird when I came into the room, but she hasn't said anything. We’ll see in time, so let's not say anything yet. We’ll wait a few days and see if she really saw anything.” I replied, mind-linking him back.
“Alright dude, I was just letting you know.” Kyle replied and I ended the link. I pretended to watch the movie, but all the time I was trying to think of how I was going to explain this to her if she asked me about it. How would she react to all of this? Would it be the same way that my mother reacted or would it be worse? Would she freak out or just accept it? Did she really see anything or did I arrive just in time to stop her witnessing a bear shifting? Surely if she had seen something she would have said something about it or at least questioned me, but she didn't she was just acting weird. Maybe she just saw the bears and it freaked her out. I heard light little snores and when I looked over I saw that she had fallen asleep. I pulled the blanket over us and turned the TV off, wrapping my arms around her and watching her for a bit before finally falling asleep myself.
