I don’t love you anymore

Chapter 1 “My stomach hurts,” Anna said to her husband as she clutched her lower abdomen with a hiss. She crouched to the bed to lay in it as she was in her nightgown and ready to lay down, but the pain was so severe she could only grip its end and try to stay sane. Her husband rolled his eyes, thinking it was another one of her tricks. “Come on, Anna,” Raphael said with a sigh. “Stop with the jokes. It’s too early in the morning for this.” But when she slid to the ground with a sharp cry, he knew she wasn’t playing. Jumping out of the bed, he rounded the large bed and saw her on the ground which had his heart pounding out of his chest. Moving into action, he called his maids to ready the car as he carried her and started down the stairs. He tried his best not to fall to the ground with her weight and when he got to the car, he dropped her in the passenger's seat while she screamed in pain. “Hold on!” Screamed the man who drove straight to the hospital. Anna was taken in by the doctors who gave her a few pain medications and within a few minutes she was okay. “Is she going to be okay?” Asked Raphael as the doctor got ready to give the couple a rundown of what was going on. “It’s just a contraction. It’s very common. You have nothing to worry about.” “Contraction?” Raphael asked with shock on his face. “Yes sir,” the doctor smiled. “Your wife is two months pregnant.” Anna held her hand to her mouth as she gasped. She had not expected this to be true. “Are you sure about that?” Asked Raphael as the doctor pointed to a machine by the side of the room. “If you two can come this way, I’ll have a scan done right away to prove the baby’s gender.” The couple did that and the gender of the baby was revealed to be a girl. “Oh my God!” Yelled Anna in shock. “I'm going to be a mum! And you are going to be a dad!” Anna was extremely happy about this and she paced around talking about all she needed to buy and what she needed to have in the house but Raphael had a worried look on his face. He tried to mask it with a faint smile but it was visible that it was fake. He wasn’t happy about the news and this had him sitting down to get his bearings. Anna could not tell as she was already in her feelings, happy about her new status. After a few more minutes of hospital tests, the couple left the hospital for their house. They drove in silence which had Anna wondering if something was wrong. “Are you okay?” She asked but his mumbles which were supposed to be replies didn’t make anything seem better. She was confused as to why the man would give her such cold treatment. Any man would be happy to see that their wife was pregnant. Why was he acting this way? He wasn’t even excited which had her worried. “So why would you want to name the baby?” She asked with a smile, trying to get past her worries. “Anything you want,” he mumbled. Was he not interested in the affairs of the unborn child? “What do you think the child is going to be? And do you think…” “Anna,” he called through restrained words. “Can’t you see I’m driving?” His cold shoulder was enough to make her slink into her seat which had her worried to the bone until they got home. As soon as they got into the living room, she knew it was time to face this nightmare before it would be too late. “Raphael, we need to talk,” she said but he refused to listen and started for the bedroom. “Now!” She yelled which had him halting in his steps. Slowly he turned to face her with a frown. “Is anything the matter? Are you unhappy?” “What are you talking about?” “Don’t play dumb with me Raphael,” she hissed. “It’s very clear you have something in your mind to say and I want to hear it. Are you not happy that I’m pregnant?” But he didn’t say anything. He went into the dining as it was lunchtime and the maids brought out food for the couple. They ate in silence and after that, he left the house. Anna could barely touch her food as she was worried about his behavior. “Why is he acting this way?” She asked herself but there was no answer. Since it was a Saturday and she wasn’t working on weekends, she decided to celebrate by watching a movie. By nightfall, she heard the sound of his car in the driveway before switching off the movie. She knew she had to take the bull by the horn. This was her marriage and she was going to save it. Whatever he had going on with him, he had to tell him. They would face the trouble together. After all, they were a couple. When he entered the living room, she got up to face him. “Raphael, we seriously need to…” before she could finish her statement, he tossed a few papers in front of her with a sneer on his face. “I want a divorce,” he said with a straight face. She slowly watched the papers fall to the ground as she found her name written on the divorce papers littered on the ground. She was dumbfounded. What was going on? How had it come to this? Her emotions were all over the place as she didn’t know what to say or do as she was frozen in place. All the words in the world had eluded her. If only she could say something to ask why but she could not say anything but watch the cold look on his face.
