Chapter 1
IVY'S POV I ran down the staircase as though a million dollar lottery was waiting for me. "Kris, good morning. Just headed out. Give me a call when you get to the bus stop." I sent Kristen a voice mail before heading to the mini mall. Kristen was my classmate in high-school. We didn't talk much of the time, not because she was a bad person or something, but she was from a higher class than most kids in school. As of then, her dad was the city's mayor and the people she patrolled with were those in similar class as her. We met a few times after college and that kind of gave us an advantage of not being total strangers anymore. She left Newyork for the United Kingdom and now she's returning, she surprisingly asked to stay in my place for a while. On getting to the mini mall, I didn't waste time to pick what I wanted for the orphanage home. I had to be fast in order to return to the strip club. Jacob made me do double shifts and I couldn't decline because I was in need of every dime I could earn. The traffic wasn't much a favour to me at first, but I still carried out my monthly sacrifice at the orphanage home before I got to the strip club. "You're late, Ivy Morris." Jacob retorted. "I'm sorry I was caught up by the traffic, I didn't mean to." I explained, but he didn't seem to care. He was busy with a paperwork and while it spiked my curiosity, I was happy he was busy enough not to scold me. "You're taking today off." He said flatly, stopping me on my tracks to resume my work. "Off? Did I do something wrong?" I panicked, drawing close to the counter where he was. "Not at all. However, you are the key to take this place to a higher level, so you deserve a little break to be at your best." He explained while smirking. His aura was different from how it used to be, making doubt that this was something good for me. "What are we talking about here, Jacob?" "You, Ivy Moris will be performing a one night stand with non other than the richest billionaire in Newyork, my love," He gave me a dirty smile while rubbing my right cheek, "You'd be paid handsomely so don't worry at all." I stood there wild eyed at how he was about to turn me into a prostitute. He looked very much okay with it and so happy as if it were nothing, making me suspect that there was something more to it than a one night stand. "Are you just going to stand there or think of ways not to screw tonight?" He hissed. "I am not a prostitute." I whispered while trying hard not to cry. "Who cares? You are performing the one night stand whether you like it or not and trust me, you don't want to arch your back while it's designed with stripe marks." He lowered his voice to a cold one, sending shivers down my spine. I swallowed the lump in my throat and looked down immediately to avoid his gaze. I ran from his sight to the changing room where I mourned my fate. I called Kristen and told her that I had an emergency and won't be able to come back tonight. She seemed fine with it making me a bit relieved. "Mr Jacob assigned me to look over you and make sure you're ready for tonight." The fair pretty lady announced on entering the small dimly lit room. "K" I mumbled, doubtinh that she'd even hear me. "I'm Beatrice." I heard her introduce herself politely while I turned, backing her. "You can leave. I don't need your help." I told her flatly. I heard her approaching me from behind and just as I was about to raise my voice at her, she rested her warm hands on my shoulders. "It's okay to want to react, Ivy," she began softly while taking a seat close to me, "but you don't have enough time to decide. Sometimes our fates choose us and it becomes our responsibility to focus on the bright side." She managed to get me deep in thoughts. "You can decide to run away from here or do something that ruins tonight but what do you stand to gain afterwards? Without being selfish or naive, what would you make out of your decision? When you have your answers then I'm sure you'll know what to do." She told me. "I'm not a prostitute." I managed to whisper. "No one said you are." She reminded me. "Here, get some sleep and I'll always come around to check up on you. I'll get you something to eat when you're up and you can tell me what you decided." She rubbed my arm before turning to leave. "Thank you." I mumbled before she left. I began to ponder on everything she said until my eyelids became heavy and the only thing I thought about was escaping my dreadful reality. *** "What's your decision?" Beatrice asked when I was almost done with the meal she served me. "I have no one and there are loads of bills waiting for me… I think I'll have to accept it." I shrugged, still munching the food in my mouth. "Fine then. Let's get you ready for tonight." She smiled proudly at me. I went to take my bath while she got the lingerie set and what I'd need for my makeup ready. She let me look at myself in the mirror often and on while she filled my ears with how beautiful I was. Next thing I knew was she was done. She handed me a silk robe while we waited for Jacob's instructions. Until then, she told me little things about herself and how she found her way to the strip club. "He said you can come now." Beatrice announced while reading from her phone. We headed straight for where this billionaire was and she left me at the door with Jacob. "Don't ruin your chance tonight. The Astors are no ordinary men." He warned before he opened the door exposing a dimly lit master's bedroom, making me wonder how such a structure even existed here. The moment Jacob locked the door behind me and the carefully carved figure in the room with me, his deep masculine voice ordered. "Take those things off." From the so much power his voice held, I felt adrenaline run down my spine and I didn't even dare to make him repeat himself. I did as he ordered while he launched at me in an instant.
