Our paws dug into the earth as they beat along its surface. We had never run so fast in our life before, but we had never been in this position before where we could lose the most precious thing in our life…and it terrified me and Mars equally.

We leapt, sailing through the air to attack, not caring whether his back was turned to us or not. He spun around at the last second, raising his arm and ducking slightly, narrowly avoiding our teeth but not our claws.
