THE BEGINNING PART 4 (Skylar)

562 Words
Skylar was trying her best to get over the situation that happened to her and Roe. She was doing everything that she could to stay busy and she had just started on rearranging her closet. When she went to pick up some clothes and hangers that had somehow gotten knocked down she saw a glimmer out of the corner of her eye. “What the?” Sky whispered as she reached down to pick it up. It was an old leather watch with a crack in the face. As she gingerly flipped it over, her heart stopped instantly when she realized what it was. It had been engraved with the words; My son, my heart, never forget what isn’t given can be taken. She jetted off to Roe’s room. “He never left Roe. He was in my…” When Rhonda didn’t budge to see why Skylar was yelling, she had the worse feeling in the world. Looking at all the pill bottles as she crept up to the bed her heart sank further into her chest. “Hell no Roe, you don’t get to give up!” She yelled as she quickly yanked her up off the bed. She was still breathing so Sky did the first thing that came to my mind. She pulled Roe off the bed and dragged her to the bathroom, turned on the shower and put her in. Sky had seen it in all the movies when someone overdosed. Roe moaned softly when the water hit her face, but her eyes still didn’t open. By instinct she stuck her finger down Roe's throat, and a few seconds later she projectile vomited all over the shower wall, and it just kept coming. “That’s right baby, get it out!” Skylar was so happy that she was finally alert and her eyes were open. She would worry about the mess later. Twenty minutes later, Sky was in her best friend’s room laying a blanket on top of her. She was shivering from the cold dip she had just taken. Sky picked up a bowl of hot soup off the nightstand and lovingly fed her a spoon full. “Now I’m not going to preach to you because it’s not the time, but I will promise that I will protect you from here on out, from any and everything. We can protect each other. We will find that bastard, and when we do…we will teach that son of a b***h a real lesson!” They hugged each other, talked and decided that they needed a fresh start. A few days and a few plans later, the girls were saying their last goodbyes through the car window as Sky and her family drove away. That week had been a wakeup call for them. First the drugging and r**e, then Rhonda attempting suicide. If the partying wasn’t already enough, that last week sure did the trick. Sky and Roe had been defeated by their own freedom, and it was time to make some major changes. One thing is for sure; Rhonda damn sure was gonna keep the people she loved protected from that day on, and she vowed to do just that. NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES!
