Between Two Worlds

"I do not understand what you are saying Marko" a fat heavy bellied man snap out to the dark brown haired man on the seat before him. His grey eyes were stormy and filled with rage. He couldn't bring himself to think deep on what his best friend Marko has just said, his words were an abomination, everything he just confessed was a crime that could only be rewarded with death if the generals found out. "I speak the truth Liam" Marko went on with sullen eyes pleading for mercy, for help, "that is why I have come to you. If the generals find out what I have done, my wife and daughter will be in danger" "You should have thought of that before you decided to be so stupid!!!" Liam yelled, his fist clashing against the wooden table with a loud thunder, teeth of white and gold glistering in the dark from the light of the burning candle in the room. "I had no choice," Marko defended himself although his head was lowered in shame unable to meet Liam's rage filled eyes "we needed a child Liam. Fourty five years, fourth five years we have lived without a child. Penelope is barren and there was no other way" "And then you decided that going to our enemies for help was the best idea?" Liam's voice didn't lose its anger "it would have been better if you had just remain childless" "And see my wife suffer for what isn't her fault? I'll rather go to the enemy for help than do nothing!" "Then why are you here?!" Liam almost screamed in rage "why are you here requesting for my help? If being a traitor is the path you have chosen then bear the consequences alone" Marko sighed sadly, "I will bear the consequences Liam but you have to promise me one thing" he looked into his friend's eyes with his pleading ones "please protect my wife and daughter" Liam gritted his teeth as he fought to keep calm. He loved his friend like a brother but this was just two much. "Your wife is a traitor just as you are and your daughter is a monster we have all been trained and taught to hate and kill. Why must I save that monster" "She is just a baby Liam and she is my daughter. I love her no matter where she came from. If you have even an ounce of love for me, you will save them" Liam's fist clench by his side "I cannot promise you anything my friend, if the generals find out, my hands won't be in on it. I will not be deemed a traitor just because I tried to help my friend" Marko stood up quickly facing Liam squarely in the eye, "so you would rather watch my wife and child killed before your eyes?" The question made Liam uncomfortable but he answered anyway, "your child is a monster Marko" Marko nodded deciding to give up on asking for his friend's help. It was already quite obvious that he has no plans of helping. "Then I shall fight to death to protect them" "Do not be stupid Marko," Liam called after his friend who was already walking out of the room "hand over the child to them and surrender to the generals. Your life and the life of your wife might be spared" "What use is our lives if our daughter is killed?" Marko bitterly said out without turning to face his friend "the seer who made it possible for me to have my own child told me of her future. She will be the key to put an end to this war going on between the hunters and the supernatural world. She will be our saviour and we will finally know peace" "Bullshit!" Liam was getting angry again "there is no peace until those monsters are wipe out of the face of the earth. How could you believe the words of a monster seer who gave you a monster baby?" "I believe what she said Liam and I am going to do everything in my power to keep my daughter alive." "You will die friend. Don't be a fool!" Liam pleaded seeing that his friend was really serious with his threat. "So be it!' Marko replied fearlessly and left the to, leaving his speechless friend behind. Liam had an idea that it was probably the last time he would ever see his friend Marko again. And so it was!
