[ Seline ]
I felt restless as I paced too and fro in the lonely house. The maid checked on me time to time to ask me whether I need something but I refused to even drink a drop of water at this scary place.
I am at Black Valley Pack, the most infamous, big but mysterious pack which never keeps any connection with other packs. Hades is their Alpha, no doubt why they live a hideous life.
I tried calling my uncle and aunt but they disconnected my call saying they couldn’t talk to me as there was a lot going on at Yellow Stone Pack. I dropped the idea of calling my parents because they were the one to put me in this predicament.
“Why it has to be me of all the females in our world?” I cursed looking out of the window.
Tears trickled down from my eyes.
Hades has always been a myth for everyone, but for me, he’s the biggest truth of my life. He is my mate and it’s undebatable. Ruby and his wolf are trying to connect, it’s my resilience which is pushing him away.
A knock on the door disturbed my chain of thoughts.
“I don’t need anything, Kacy.” I said in frustration because she is the only one who is living in this house along with me.
“May I come in, Seline?”
It was Hades’s soft voice and something stirred inside me.
I remained quiet and after a few moments, the door creaked open and his scent invaded the air.
“I think entering into someone’s personal space isn’t a basic manner.” I mocked him.
“You didn’t respond so I had to come inside, Seline. I and my wolf can’t control our natural instincts which made us worry about you.” He replied and I heard his steps coming closer. Ruby again became restless.
“Kacy told me that you refused to drink water or eat anything, so I brought you some snacks.” He said and placed the tray he was holding. It was covered with a lid.
“I am not hungry. I think I am not forced here to live my life the way I want.” I sneered, my frustration was reaching to a point where I failed to see his genuine care.
His ash grey eyes flickered at me. Hurt flashed in his eyes but he quickly masked it. The same beautiful smile stretched on his lips.
“Eat something, Seline. You are only hurting yourself by torturing your body like this. I know you are really mad at me. I am also feeling overwhelmed because never in my dreams I hoped to find you at Yellow Stone Pack. You’d not be safe there and you know this.” He said.
His words were a slap of reality on my face. As far as I am a rebellious soul who pursued her education despite my parents’ constant nagging to come back home, I knew one or other way, they’d find a way to drag me back into our world.
My own family was forcing me to mate with Jayden when I have other goals. I want to become a doctor and serve people.
“I know you are worried about your studies, Seline. You don’t need to stress because once your vacations will be over, I’ll take you to your college. Our bond won’t be a hindrance in your career’s growth. You can still fulfil your dreams while we can be mates.” He said.
“What if I don’t want this from my life. You don’t understand. This isn’t the life I pictured for myself, Hades. I saw you killing my best friend. You have plundered packs. People hate you, they fear you. How can you change my perception when I only saw terrible things about you?”
Silence prevailed between us.
“My name is Sebestian. I’d be glad if you address me by my name rather than using the term that those cowards gave me. I don’t blame you. I have killed people but they all deserved to die. I never laid my hands on innocents. I want you to trust me because I am not going to hurt you ever.” He spoke in a low voice.
I felt honesty in his words and a tiny part of me felt guilty of saying awful things about him.
“Please, eat something first. We need to talk. Since you are going to live here, there are a few things you need to know.” He said in a normal tone and gestured me to eat.
My stomach grumbled when he removed the lid. It was my favourite cookies and coffee along with some fresh fruits.
I realized that I hadn’t eaten anything in last twenty-four hours. I felt embarrassed because he chuckled when my stomach made a sound again.
“Your tummy needs to be full. Please, make yourself comfortable here. Tomorrow, I’ll take you to the packhouse. You will love to meet people here.” He kept talking.
“I am not interested in meeting anyone. If I am a captive here, I better live in this room like one.” I retorted but sipped the coffee which immediately soothed my hammering head.
“You’re not a captive here, Seline. You’d not say this if you see how we keep prisoners here. You are their queen, you just need to see how our people are going to love you and respect you. I will never hurt you, mate.” He said inching close to me and our close proximity again made me feel self-conscious.
These opposite feelings of fear and attraction were creating a whirlpool of emotions inside me.
“Do you want to go for a run?” He asked after a few moments of silence.
I raised my eyes from above the mug.
Was he serious?
I rarely go for a run as it’s not possible in the city to stay hidden from the eyes of humans.
Ruby immediately became excited. She hadn’t gotten a chance to run for over six months. It’s important for us to give our wolves their natural environment.
“Is that a yes?” He lifted his brow.
“On the condition that no one will follow me, not even you.” I stated.
His face became serious, the smile was gone.
“Not possible, mate because Blaze wants to be with your wolf and I don’t think I am able to restrain my wolf any longer. It badly wants to mark you. You are mine, Seline. You are ours. Soon, I will make you fall in love with me.” He said closing the gap between us and before I could react, he placed his lips on my forehead.
