FIONA. After class, I head back to my apartment, hungry and exhausted. With my bag laid across my shoulder, I turned the door knob of the front door and walked in. The whole house smelled like fresh baked cookies and at once, I knew that my roommate and best friend Genevieve was at home. She is a baker and owns a little small stall where she sells and makes money. Her cakes are the talk of the town and a lot of college students love patronizing her. I sat down on the sofa and let out a sigh of relief. With my bag by my side, I let loose my hair and scattered it around. The atmosphere was hot and what I needed right now was a glass of cold water, some meal and a good sleep. After that I can call my mum and wonder why she wants me home a few days before the holiday. I heard footsteps approaching from the kitchen, Genevieve walked towards me with a tray of cookies that smelled so nice. She had an apron on her and her long red hair sparkled in excitement along with her deep blue eyes just like mine. "It does taste nice right?" She inquired with a smile as she watched me take a bite. My eyes shone in enthusiasm, this is just what I need to cool off. I looked up at her with a smile, "This is amazing." I glanced at the tray filled with mouthwatering cookies and back at her face, "Can I have some please?" I asked sweetly and blinked my eyes. Genevieve laughed at my gesture, "Sure" she said placing the tray on a table, "But you are going to pay, they are not for free" she pointed a finger at me and walked towards the kitchen counter. I laughed at her words, "Of course I will" I replied and carefully devoured the cookies. I got up, went over to the refrigerator and poured myself a glass of orange juice. It added nicely to my meal of chocolate cookies and I just loved it. A few minutes later, I picked up the empty tray and walked over to join Genevieve. I watched her begin to prepare dinner, "Genevieve" I called out as I picked up a chicken and began to dress it. She turned to me, walked over to the oven and placed a tray of cookies in it, "You want to say something?" She asked as she picked up some carrots and began to slice. I inhaled deeply, my gaze fixed on the chicken in front of me, "Are you going home for the holiday?" I implored curiously. Genevieve let out a soft laugh, "Of course I will, my parents will be expecting my visit and I can't disappoint them in any way" she asserted with a nod. "Hmm" I manage to say and continued with my work, "I will be going home too, my mum called Mrs Bailey and she insist I come home this weekend" I groaned, "I have lots of parties and clubs to attend with Jason, you can't expect me to miss out on all that" I complained with sad eyes. With a knife in her hand, Genevieve looked up at me, she had an expression on her face and at once, I knew that I was going to get a lot of lectures from her. "You don't have to say such a Fiona, she is your mother, your only family and you know that family is more important than anything, even a boy" she raised an eyebrow at me with sharp eyes. I rolled my eyes in disagreement, "I know but you can't expect me to miss out some good time with Jason, he is my new boyfriend and he is a lot of fun to be with, and to add it all up, he is exceptionally good in bed" I inhaled dreamily with satisfaction in my face. At once, Genevieve turned to be with stunned eyes, she dropped the knife in her hand and focused her attention on me, "Hold on" she pointed a finger at me, "You have had s*x with him already?" She asked, still shocked. I nodded as I wondered what was the big deal about it, 'Yes I did, he is my boyfriend already so it doesn't mean a thing" I shoved it off and continued with the chicken I was dressing. "No way Fiona!" She exclaimed with a disappointed tone, "You just started dating Jason yesterday and you have already been in bed with him? That is too loose Fiona, too loose" she shook her head and continued with her work. I looked up at her in wonder, "We had s*x last night, at least,I know Jason very well, he isn't a cheat" I affirmed to her. Genevieve laughed, "How do you know that Fiona? You just started dating him and now you are visualizing him as your prince charming" she turned to me and rested on the counter, "All men cheats Fiona, the day you realize it, the day these guys will stop taking you for granted. All they see is your sexy and attractive body and what pops up in their mind is them having s*x with you, nothing else" she walked up to me and we locked eyes together. "Fiona, you are way too beautiful for this, I am not saying that Jason is a bad guy, he seems like one but you can't judge a book by it cover, but still" she inhaled deeply, "Learn to close the cookie jar, don't let them get access to it when they desire, you are not a trophy that needs to be displayed around because of your beautiful" a smile appeared on her face, "Like Steve will always say, Act Like A Lady And Think Like A Man, I think you have to get a copy of that book and know your worth as a woman" she advised and walked away. I stared at her speechless, whenever Genevieve talks, she seems older and way too experienced for her age but surprisingly, we are of the same age. I nodded with a defeated look, "Alright, but you need to hook yourself up with a guy, you can't remain a virgin forever" I noted with a wink. Genevieve laughed heartily, "You don't have to worry about my celibacy Fiona, after all, I have a man in my life" she announced with a smile. I stared at her with surprised eyes , "You have a man already and you didn't inform me?" I asked, unpleasant as she laughed with excitement. "Come on, tell me who he is," I said, filled with so much eagerness. Genevieve chuckled, "You know him already Fiona, his name is Jesus my savior, and with him in my life, i don't need another man" she contended and burst into laughter. I nodded my head and hissed, "You and your jokes" I said and faced the chicken. Genevieve kept on laughing, "Be in Christ and you will enjoy his undying love and not the love of these college boys that kiss and tell. You should come to one of our youth programs at college, you will love it" she said with a proud look. I washed my hands and headed towards the stairs, "Don't make me look like I am filled with s**t Genevieve, I am also a christian and i love christ" I said to her and she chuckled with delight.
