I’m called into Mrs Agatha’s office, and as soon as I see her serious expression, my heart starts racing. She takes a deep breath and says “I’m so sorry Olivia but the company is folding up and a bigger company is taking over” “That’s good news Mrs Agatha” I said as I smiled trying to reassure myself everything was fine “No it’s not darling. They are recruiting new workers and we won’t be working here anymore” she says as she sits I feel a wave of shock and worry wash over me as I try to process the news. “It’s going to be okay Olivia, you’ll definitely get another job. You’re a smart and intelligent young lady. Any company would be willing to have you I can’t help feeling the tension in the room, knowing this situation would really affect my financial state. How am I even going to get another job? “But how on earth am I expected to survive?” I asked with tears in my eyes “You’ll do just fine, girl” she said with a smile >>>>>>>> “Why are you crying Via? Why are you crying?” she sat on my bed as she put my head on her shoulder and rubbed my face “I lost my job” I said as I sniffed “For real? You have to be kidding me Via” she said looking shocked “Do I look like I’m kidding?” “Why? Did anything happen?” “The company is folding up and a bigger one is taking over” “That’s s**t for real. Are they recruiting new workers?” “Yes they are” I said as I sobbed into her arms “C’mon Via, cheer up, it’s going to be alright” she said as she massaged my head “No it’s not going to be alright” I said as I cried “You can easily get another job and you know that” “You say that like you didn’t know how long it took me to get the last one” I said looking at her as I wiped my tears. “I don’t want to go back being a waitress” I continued wailing as Lily laughed One thing I’ve learnt about Lily is she’d always laugh no matter how serious the situation is. “What’s so funny Lily?” I wailed the more “Nothing” she said as she laughed harder “It’s not funny” I said as I laughed with her “You’re laughing Via” she said still laughing “let’s be for real you’ll get another job, it might take a lot of convincing to do or you can just relocate to another country” she laughed again “Relocating is even more expensive” I said as I fell flat on my bed “I can’t believe that b***h ruined my entire life” “C’mon if I were you I’d have done worse and you know it” “I’m suffering for the consequences of my actions. I’m so pissed right now” “Calm down baby girl” Lily said as she stood up and held my hands for me to calm down “Have your seat and let me get you something to drink” she said as she left my room She came back with an orange juice and two glasses. She poured me a drink as she sat down. I sipped the orange juice and as soon as it hits my throat, I feel a bit relief about the whole situation. I’d definitely get another job, even if it’s a waitress job I thought to myself. It’s going to be alright. It’s definitely not the end of the world. “C’mon get up, we’re going clubbing tonight” “Clubbing? You can’t be for real Lily” I said as I looked at her “Yeah, we’re going clubbing tonight. Can you get up and let me get you dressed up?” “I’m not going Lily. I’m tired and take a look at my eyes. They’re freaking swollen” I said as I ran to the dressing mirror to take a look at my eyes “There’s nothing a little ice and makeup can’t do” she said smirking “Moreover, I don’t have dresses to wear” I said as I sat on the dressing stool “You’re just making flimsy excuses not to go Via. It’s been a long time you went to the club, always coming up with one excuse or another. C’mon just to get your mind off the whole thing” she said as she made a puppy face “We can go to my house to get ready if you don’t have a dress to wear” “I really don’t want to go Lily” I said She looked at me strangely then walked towards me. “Lily this has to be your last chance” she said as she folded her arms “Nah, I’ll just stay here” She charged towards me as she carried me and flung me on her shoulder “Lilyyyyyyy!!! Put. Me. Down.” I screamed as she walked towards my apartment door “Put me down Lily” I shouted, pounding on her back We got outside and she threw me in the passenger seat and buckled up. She jogged to the driver’s seat, got in the car and sped off “If you’re forcing me to a club can you at least not get me killed” I said as I rolled my eyes “It’s all fun Via” she smiled as she stepped on the pedal and she zoomed down the streets We get to Lily’s house and she literally dragged me out of the car because I didn’t want to get down. “I really don’t want to go Lily” I whined as she opened the door Lily does whatever she wants and she gets whatever she wants. We’re going to the club and there is no doubt about that. “It’s going to be fun Via, we’ll dance and forget you lost your job” I sat and thought about that “Okayyyyy, but you have to promise me we’ll get back before 12am” I said giving her a condition “No problem if that’s what you want” she said smiling “But I promise you we’ll get back later than that” “That can’t be true, we both know I don’t like parties” “Whatever you say Miss Olivia” she said as she stood up “Now get up and let’s get you a dress” she said walking to the closet “So what would you like to wear? I’m not supposed to give you an option but let me hear what you have to say” “A jeans and a crop top would do. You can give me your Doc. Martins too” I beamed She looked at me like I was crazy and said “We’re going to a club for goodness sake Olivia” She searched through her closet for a dress, brought out a dress and placed it on my hands. “What is this Lily?” I said as I unfolded the dress “It’s a dress and you’ve got two options. It’s either the one you’re holding or this skirt with a bra” she said pulling out a skirt that’d barely cover my ass “I wonder how we became best friends” I said as I walked out of her closet with the mini dress as she laughed “C’mon you loved me, I had no choice than to give in” she said laughing as she came out with two dresses “Which one would you like for me to wear?” she asked “The red one looks fiery and the black one is mid. I think you should go for the red one” I said sitting on her bed “Cool, a bright red lipstick would definitely go with this” she said “I should start your makeup, time’s not on our side” she said as she pushed me to the dresser and started cleaning my face. “You forgot the ice, my eyes are still swollen” I said as I took a closer look at them in the mirror “Okayyyyy, makeup can fix that but I’ll please you tonight” she said leaving the room She came back with a glass of iced water and two metal spoons. She dipped the spoons into the iced water and waited for like twenty seconds, she then put the spoons on my eyes. It felt so relaxing. She did this like five times and my eyes were less swollen than before. “Makeup time” she said as she dropped the glass and proceeded with the makeup
