Chapter Four

335 Words
{UNKNOWN POV} The party was reminiscent of those he had attended at home. He drank his wine and smiled at the thought of tradition persisting, yet he doubted that the Malak’s knew that was what they were doing. They didn’t even realize he had snuck into their house. He watched her carefully as she was lead out by a man, who then promptly left her to her own devices. He continued to socialize while watched her out of the corner of his eye. She was just as poised and regal as she had been the first day he had met her. Her mahogany hair flowed freely down her back, her eyes were dark and full of thought, yet he knew they had flecks of gold and just the slightest bit of green in them, which looked alike an explosion of colour when she was in the sunlight. She was beautiful and intriguing, but closed off and private. He listened to a woman go on about something or other, but his mind was back home, in a land nearly forgotten. (Flashback) The Prince’s arm was taken by a lovely young woman, and they approached him with warm smiles. “My friend, may I introduce you to my father’s ward?” the Prince had said. He smiled at them and bowed as they introduced each other, and the Prince had told her that he was to be a Knight. “It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance, brave Knight.” She had said politely. He took her hand and kissed the back, “And it is an honour to make yours, My Lady.” She flushed, while the Prince smiled tightly. “Shall we sit, my Lady?” the Prince asked. She nodded and they left. (End of Flashback). He wondered if he had finally found her in time, but his hope faltered when he saw her face screw up in pain. He was always too late.
