Chapter 19 The tension in the room broken, everyone stood at once, turning toward the exits. Right toward Alex and Etan. After a few stunned seconds and increasing pressure on his hand, Alex realized Etan was trying to drag him to his feet. “We’ve got to get out of here,” Etan said. “Now, before it’s too late.” They pushed through the crowd and out into the still empty lobby, moving at almost a run toward Evan Griffith’s blue sedan they’d been driving lately. It started on the first try, just as the door to the auditorium opened. “What’s going on, E?” Alex said as Etan hit the gas a bit too hard going out of the parking lot.
