CHAPTER ONE:*New Beginnings,Old Shadows*
Amara sat cross-legged on the edge of her aunt’s bed, scrolling through her phone with a smirk. “New town, new school, same old drama,” she muttered, tossing the device aside. The quiet of Aunt Grace’s small house was a far cry from the chaos she’d left behind—but maybe that was a good thing.
The smell of old books and lavender filled the room — a far cry from the bustling city life she was used to. Moving here wasn’t easy, but staying with Aunt Grace was the only option after her parents moved abroad.
She sighed, pulling her notebook closer. Today was her first day at Westbrook High, and nerves twisted in her stomach like a storm.
“Breakfast’s ready!” Aunt Grace called from the kitchen.
Amara sighed, standing up. “If breakfast involves cereal and awkward small talk, I’m not hungry.”
After a quick, quiet meal, Amara grabbed her backpack and headed out. As she approached Westbrook High, her nerves twisted like a rollercoaster. That’s when she bumped into a guy with an easy smile.
“Hey, you’re new, right? I’m Eli. Need a tour guide?”
Amara arched an eyebrow. “Sure, as long as you don’t sell me to the highest bidder.”
Eli laughed. “Deal.”
They walked through the buzzing halls, Eli pointing out the cliques and hot spots.
As they walked, Eli whispered, “Watch out for Zayne Cruz. Everyone talks—bad boy, trouble, the works.”
Amara smirked. “Sounds like my type of challenge.”
Eli laughed, but a flicker of something unreadable crossed his face.
Unbeknownst to Amara, eyes were watching from the shadows, and the real story was only just beginning.

* First Day in Class*
The classroom buzzed with chatter as students settled into their seats. Amara slid into a desk near the middle, keeping her head low but eyes sharp.
Eli, ever the social butterfly, sat a few rows ahead. He turned around with a friendly grin. “Hey, newbie. How’s the tour guide treating you?”
Amara smirked. “Not bad… so far.”
From the back corner, a figure leaned against the wall—Zayne Cruz. Dark eyes scanned the room with an unreadable expression. He didn’t say a word, but his presence was impossible to ignore.
The teacher called the class to attention. “Welcome, everyone. Today we start with introductions.”
Amara’s heart thumped. She met Eli’s encouraging glance, then caught Zayne’s cold stare from across the room.
Whispers floated:
“That’s Zayne. Don’t mess with him.”
Amara folded her arms. *Challenge accepted*

*: First Day in Class (Dialogue Scene)*
Teacher:“Alright, let’s start with introductions. Amara, why don’t you go first?”
Amara (standing up, cool and confident): “Amara Jones. Just moved here. Not here to make friends—I’m here to survive.”
A few students chuckle. Eli smirks. Zayne’s eyes narrow.
Eli (whispering as Amara sits down): “I like your attitude. You’re not like the usual new girl.”
Amara: “Thanks. And you’re the ‘friendly tour guide,’ right? You make this place look less terrifying.”
Eli: “Someone’s gotta do it, and I think I'm the perfect person for the job "
Suddenly, Zayne stands, voice low but clear.
Zayne: “Survival’s about knowing who to trust—and who to watch.”
The class quiets down. Amara locks eyes with Zayne for a bit, She felt this mysterious energy from him.
Amara: “Then I guess I’m starting with no trust.”she snickered .
Zayne smirks slightly and sits down.
Eli:(grinning) “This is going to be interesting.”
What Amara doesn't know is that danger is closer than she thinks- and trust will be her hardest lesson yet .
